Student answer (Band 6.5)

It is often believed that speaking an international language in foreign land may cause genuine social and practical hurdles. Although, it is inevitable but I partially agree with the statement as the new technological trends and a personal effort to learn local languages and traditions can make the process quite smooth.

Settling in a new land where one has to communicate with others in their native tongues is quite challenging. Newcomers often find it hard to make new friends because of the language barrier, due to which they often feel depressed. lonliness takes a toll on the mental ghealth of the person. Apart from these there are certain practical difficulities bound to immigration. It has been noted that people find difficulity in finding jobs or to navigate the workplace challenges because of less command over local labguage. Access to healthcare and other social and legal systems become less certain as departments often have native staff members.

Although, it is hard to navigate life in a new country, but digitalisation and use of artificial intelligence has been effective in overcoming these problems. Individuals can learn language through apps installed in their gadgets and they can do so at their own pace. Many departments use AI bots to respond to queries and the desired language can be chosen from the list. Nevertheless, technology can resolve such problems but personal effort and keen interest to learn new things cannot be neglected.

In conclusion, it is undoubtedly challenging and hard to settle in a foreign country when it comes to communicate in a completely strange language, but owing to growing technology, any person can get familiar with new language in a matter of days.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you partially agree that language differences create serious difficulties, while arguing that technology and personal effort can reduce them. You address both social problems, such as difficulty making friends and feeling depressed, and practical ones, including employment and access to services. These relevant examples meet the task well. To make the response more fully developed, explain the consequences or give a specific illustration for some claims—for example, how limited language ability affects a job search or a healthcare appointment. The final claim that someone can become familiar with a language “in a matter of days” is also too broad and sits uneasily with the earlier recognition of substantial barriers. Qualifying it would make your argument more convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: it introduces your position, discusses the difficulties, presents ways to address them, and concludes. The progression from social and practical barriers to possible solutions is easy to follow, and linking expressions such as “Apart from these,” “Nevertheless,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. Some connections are less smooth or precise, however. The opening phrase “Although, it is inevitable but” combines two contrasting structures, and the third paragraph’s “Although” sentence has the same problem. The conclusion also moves quickly from the challenges to a very confident claim about learning a language in days. Use fewer formulaic transitions and make the relationship between each claim and its support more explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “language barrier,” “navigate the workplace challenges,” “access to healthcare,” and “personal effort.” These phrases help communicate both social and practical concerns, and the meaning is generally clear. There are also attempts at more formal or less common wording, such as “digitalisation” and “keen interest,” though some combinations are not fully natural: “in foreign land,” “native tongues,” and “departments often have native staff members” could be expressed more precisely. Several spelling errors—such as “lonliness,” “difficulities,” and “labguage”—also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, natural collocations and proofread carefully, especially where a spelling slip makes a key topic word harder to recognise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “where one has to communicate” and a conditional structure in “when it comes to communicate.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “Although, it is inevitable but” incorrectly combines two contrast markers; “Access to healthcare and other social and legal systems become” has a subject–verb agreement problem; and “when it comes to communicate” needs a gerund form. There are also article and sentence-boundary issues, as in “in foreign land” and the lowercase “lonliness” after a full stop. Review contrast clauses, agreement, articles, and verb patterns, then check punctuation and capitalisation during editing.
