Student answer (Band 5.0)

I completely agree that living in a region where individuals speak a other language can creat serious social and practical problems.

Firstly, language barriers can make it difficult for people to communicate with others. they may find it difficult to make new friends. As a result, they may feel lonely. Moreover, many people may face different problems for travel to foreign citizens and not explain them where visit to the place. For example, international student may struggle to communicate with their classmates. this can difficult to students becasue they may feel confused to talk with other learners

Secondly, not understanding the local language it can create difficulties in daily life. In addition, public may face many difficulties visiting hospital or using public transport. They may also misunderstand during study lacture. For instance, if people going to the hospital, it may difficult to explain their health problems to a doctor. Therefore, before going to other country, people should learn basic words and phrases. this can help them to communicate with other and make daily life easy.

To sum up, i agree that, living a other country without knowing language can cause social and practical difficulties.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

Your position is clear: you completely agree that living where another language is spoken can create social and practical problems. You address both aspects, with loneliness and difficulty making friends as social effects, and problems at hospitals or on public transport as practical ones. However, the ideas are brief and often not fully explained. The example about an international student is relevant, but the point that people may have problems “for travel to foreign citizens” is unclear, so it does not effectively support your argument. The conclusion repeats your position without adding a final insight. The response is also 56 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to develop reasons and examples. Explain each problem more fully and add a specific, relevant example for both sides of your argument.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs beginning with “Firstly” and “Secondly,” and a concluding sentence. This helps the reader identify the main points, and connectors such as “As a result,” “Moreover,” and “Therefore” show some awareness of how ideas relate. However, progression within the paragraphs is uneven. The first paragraph moves from making friends to travel difficulties and then to students, without clearly linking these examples. Some linking phrases are also mechanical, and “In addition” does not clearly introduce a distinct point. Improve the flow by giving each paragraph one central idea, explaining it, and then adding a directly related example. Check that pronouns and references clearly identify who is experiencing each problem.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a basic range of vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “language barriers,” “lonely,” “public transport,” and “health problems.” These choices make your main meaning understandable. However, vocabulary is limited and several word choices or combinations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “travel to foreign citizens,” “using public transport,” and “study lacture.” Repetition of “difficult” and “problems” also makes the discussion less precise. Spelling errors, including “creat,” “becasue,” and “lacture,” further reduce accuracy. Build a topic-specific vocabulary set for communication, healthcare, education, and daily services, and check spelling carefully. More precise expressions will help you explain the consequences of language barriers without relying on repeated general terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple sentences and longer structures, including a result clause in “As a result, they may feel lonely” and a conditional example beginning “if people going to the hospital.” The meaning is generally recoverable, but errors are frequent and some sentences are difficult to follow. For example, “living in a region where individuals speak a other language” has an article error, while “not understanding the local language it can create difficulties” has an unnecessary subject and an awkward clause structure. In “if people going to the hospital, it may difficult,” the verb forms are incomplete. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in “they” and “this” after full stops. Practise accurate sentence patterns and proofread for articles, complete verbs, and sentence boundaries.
