Student answer (Band 5.0)

I belive that , surviving in a foreign country while speaking their native language will not create major social obstacles, as well as practical problems .

Some people argued that , it is not mandatory to learn the language where we choose to live. For this reason , people struggle to survive. For instance , in korea or japan , learning their native language is crucial , otherwise individuals can not fullfill their basic needs . As we know , these countries still prefer their mother tounge for international students in this modern era. and there is a major language course for all. But knowing all this major keys still people choose not to learn the basic speaking skills and at the end they are unable to find accomondation and jobs .

I argued that , if we want to live in a different country , firstly we have to adapt their basic language skills , which is crucial for surviving. As a result, we can solve our problems socially and practically. As an example , we can learn about their rules and regulations. Also , we can learn their tradition and cultural values while speaking and sharing our thoughts , which will help us to share the same value , as a result , we can enhance our skills from them .

To summarize ,I largly agree with the concept that people have to learn each country basic native language, so that they can survive .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

Your position is identifiable: you argue that people should learn the local language to manage daily life and participate socially. You also give relevant examples, including difficulty finding accommodation or work and learning local rules and traditions. However, the response only partially addresses the question because it opens by saying that speaking a foreign language will not cause major problems, then argues that language learning is crucial, without clearly explaining the extent of your agreement with the statement. Several points are asserted rather than developed, and the examples about Korea and Japan are broad and not clearly connected to social problems. The response is also four words below the required minimum. State your position consistently and explain one or two examples in greater depth.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an opening position to supporting points and a summary. Linking expressions such as “For instance,” “As a result,” and “To summarize” help signal relationships between ideas. However, progression is not always clear: the first body paragraph begins with what “Some people argued,” but it is unclear how this relates to your own view, and the opening appears to contradict the later argument. Several ideas are joined mechanically, especially in the long sentence beginning “Also, we can learn their tradition and cultural values.” Punctuation around linking phrases is also inconsistent. Use each paragraph for one clear point, connect examples explicitly to that point, and make references such as “these countries” unambiguous.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “social obstacles,” “basic needs,” “rules and regulations,” and “cultural values.” There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “adapt their basic language skills.” However, the range is limited and some word choices or collocations make meaning less clear. For example, “surviving in a foreign country while speaking their native language” does not clearly express the intended situation, and “share the same value” is imprecise. Spelling errors such as “belive,” “fullfill,” “tounge,” and “accomondation” are noticeable. Build accuracy by checking spelling and choosing natural phrases such as “learn the local language” and “find accommodation.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a conditional structure in “if we want to live in a different country” and a result clause beginning “As a result.” This shows some range, but complex sentences are often not controlled consistently, and frequent errors can make the reader pause. Examples include “people struggle to survive” after a general claim, “there is a major language course for all,” and the sentence beginning “Also, we can learn,” which has unclear structure and punctuation. Articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries also need attention; for example, “each country basic native language” needs a possessive form. Practise building shorter, complete sentences first, then combine them accurately with conjunctions and correct punctuation.
