Student answer (Band 5.0)

Living ina counrty where you have to speak a foreign langyage can cause serious social problems and practical problems.I totally agree with this statement since speaking foreign language make too much difficulties in daily routine for students and other people.

Firstly, cause a serious social problem because when people did not speak local language they can not work properly and they face too much difficulties in their daily routine. They can not make friends because of language barrier. For example, students who lived in a foreign country they face difficulties in their school or college because of not knowing local language.

Secondly, people also face many difficulties in their practica life as they can not work properly like, when they are going to any shop for job but they did not get a job because of language barrier. Moreover, in their society they can not communicate with other people. For instance, some people who lives in a Spain but they did not know their local language they face too much problem in their practical and social life.In addition, they can not talk with drivers, workers and other local people.

However, I totally agree with this statement that language barrier produce many causes in foreigners life. They should join language schools for learning the local lanuage since this is very crucial to live in foreign country.

To sum up, People should join schools for learning language because this is helpful in their social and practical life. When they learn local language they can make friends easily and also work properly in any shop or resturant.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you totally agree that living where a foreign language is spoken can create social and practical problems. You address both areas, mentioning difficulty making friends and communicating, as well as problems finding work and managing daily interactions. The examples about students and people in Spain are relevant, but they remain general and are not explained in enough detail to show precisely how language difficulties lead to these outcomes. The final suggestion to attend language schools is useful, though it shifts toward a solution rather than further developing your reasons. To strengthen the response, explain each example more fully and make the distinction between social and practical consequences clearer.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for social and practical problems, and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” “Moreover,” and “To sum up” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is limited: several points repeat the idea that people face difficulties because of a language barrier, without showing how one point develops into the next. Some linking is also awkward, such as “Firstly, cause a serious social problem,” which does not connect smoothly to the preceding sentence. Improve cohesion by using complete topic sentences, grouping related examples, and replacing repeated claims with clear explanations or consequences.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “language barrier,” “communicate,” “local language,” and “social and practical life.” These terms make your main meaning understandable. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “difficulties,” “problem,” and “language barrier.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, including “counrty,” “langyage,” “practica,” and “resturant,” as well as the unnatural phrase “produce many causes.” These errors sometimes make the reader pause. Build a wider set of precise expressions for employment, everyday services, and social integration, and proofread spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple sentences and longer clauses, for example, “They can not make friends because of language barrier” and the sentence beginning “Moreover.” However, the range is limited, and attempts to combine ideas often contain frequent errors that can make reading difficult. Examples include “speaking foreign language make,” “people who lives,” and “when people did not speak,” where articles, subject–verb agreement, and verb forms need attention. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in “language barrier. For example” and “life. In addition.” Practise building accurate sentences with because, although, and when, then check agreement, articles, and punctuation before submitting.
