Student answer (Band 5.0)

By living in a pakistan, People face many difficulties in speaking a foreign language. As all people can not understand foreign languages such as English. If we speak english everytime in front of those persons who can not understand this language then we can not easily convey our thoughts to them. Foreign languages have seriously impacted our culture and society. People instead of speaking their national language, they are following English. In this way, we can noy promote our national language Urdu.As a Pakistani, we should try our best to mainatain our forefather's culture and work hard to promote our language that instead of English, Urdu should be a foreign language.

As a student, I face many problems in conveying my thoughts easily to others such as my teaching staff etc by speaking in English. yesterday I was had a presentation and the professor said that you have to convey your presentation to all class in English then I was scared by giving my presentation in English then by facing many faces of others I started my presentation. I Started it with fear, i was bit shy to speak English with correct pronounciation and accent. I spoke with some hesitation. then finally I presented everything but unfortunately, I did not convey my all knowledge and thoughts to others. If I have to present everything in urdu indtead of English then I might convey convey mt thoughts to ithers easily. As a pakistani, we should promote urdu language instead of other foreign language.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You take a relevant position by arguing that relying on English can make communication difficult and may weaken the use of Urdu. The personal example about feeling nervous during a presentation also supports the practical-problem aspect of the prompt. However, the response addresses the task only partially: it focuses mainly on language use in Pakistan and does not clearly discuss the wider social problems of living in a foreign-language country. Your position is also not fully consistent, since the opening refers to difficulties speaking a foreign language, while the conclusion mainly urges people to promote Urdu. Develop both social and practical effects, and state clearly whether you agree fully or partly with the claim.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has some organisation: it begins with general points about communication and culture, then gives a personal example, and ends with a recommendation. This gives the reader a basic sense of direction. However, there is no clear overall progression from the task’s social problems to its practical problems, and the ideas are often repeated, particularly the calls to promote Urdu. Linking is also sometimes inaccurate or mechanical; for example, “In this way” does not clearly show how speaking English prevents promotion of Urdu, and the presentation account moves through events with repeated “then.” Use separate paragraphs for the two main effects, connect each example explicitly to your argument, and avoid repeating the same conclusion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “foreign languages,” “national language,” “convey my thoughts,” and “presentation.” However, the range is limited and several expressions are repetitive or imprecise, such as repeated references to “promote” a language and “convey” thoughts. Some word choices and collocations may make the reader pause, including “facing many faces” and “mainatain our forefather’s culture.” Spelling errors such as “pronounciation,” “indtead,” and “mt” also reduce accuracy. Build a wider set of precise expressions for social integration and everyday difficulties, and check spelling and collocations carefully when editing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including conditional forms such as “If I have to present everything in Urdu … then I might convey my thoughts.” However, the range is limited, and attempts to combine ideas often contain frequent errors that can make the meaning harder to follow. Examples include “By living in a pakistan,” “I was had a presentation,” and “I did not convey my all knowledge,” which show problems with articles, verb forms, and word order. Sentence boundaries and capitalisation are also inconsistent, as in “then finally I presented” and the lowercase “i.” Practise accurate past-tense narration and article use, and divide long sentences into clear clauses with correct punctuation.
