Student answer (Band 6.0)

Relocating in a diffrent country where an individual have to speak a diffrent and a foreign language is an increasingly and commmon experience in today's mordern world. I completely agree with this situation and this also creates certain barriers and some significant social challenges annd several practical difficulties for immigrants.

On a practical level, it immediately creates issues for their say to day tasks. Navigating essential administrative process such as opening a bank account, signing tenancy documents etc. In profession setting it also affect ones performance , it can affect certian individuals comprehention, which can lead to slower promotions and less responsibility given to the individuals, this often leads to the immigranst getting low-wage and low grade jobs. Furthermore any critical or any situation of any kind of medical or legal emergency can cause the misinterpretetion of the individual which can be highly dangerous for individuals.

Beyond these practical challenges, language barriers also create social and emotional hurdles for one as ther is no one to convey their feeling so they often feel left out or feel alone. Immigrants who often fail to learn the language or are poor at communication they often fail to build connections and freindshiips whichh causes them to feel either anxious or alone. Overtime this can lead to the cause of isolation and depression as talking to an individual can help lower ones strees and other feelings can also be expressed with the help of language. While these enclaves offer comfort, they hinder long-term integration and can foster mistrust or cultural tension between immigrant groups and the host population.

In conclusion, I fully agree that if an immigrant is struggling with languagge in an foreign country theen they will face problems in both the short and the long run> It only creates severe operational friction in doing everyday tasks and administrative duties, but also creates deep social and emotional barriers that hinder with integration and cause emotional instability

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the opening: “I completely agree,” and the response addresses both practical and social consequences, as the prompt requires. The examples of banking, tenancy, workplace performance, and medical or legal emergencies are relevant, while the discussion of loneliness, friendship, and integration extends the social side of the argument. This meets the task well, but the development is uneven: the workplace point is asserted rather than illustrated, and the claim that immigrant enclaves can “foster mistrust or cultural tension” appears without explanation or an example. To strengthen the response further, explain the cause-and-effect links in these points and support them with a specific, relevant example. The conclusion restates your view but could synthesise the main reasons more precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a coherent overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs separate practical from social effects, and a conclusion returns to your position. Transitions such as “On a practical level” and “Beyond these practical challenges” help signal this progression. However, cohesion is sometimes weakened by unclear references and crowded sentences. For example, “this also creates certain barriers” does not clearly identify what “this” refers to, and the sentence beginning “Immigrants who often fail to learn the language” repeats “often” and shifts awkwardly between its subject and “they.” The final paragraph also joins several ideas in a long sentence. Use clearer topic sentences, refer explicitly to the people or problem being discussed, and divide complex points into manageable sentences.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a useful range of topic vocabulary, including “administrative process,” “misinterpretation,” “integration,” “isolation,” and “emotional hurdles.” These choices show awareness of the subject and help communicate both practical and social impacts. However, spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural combinations are frequent enough to distract the reader, as in “diffrent,” “commmon,” “comprehention,” and “low grade jobs.” Some phrases are also awkward or repetitive, such as “any critical or any situation of any kind of medical or legal emergency.” Aim for accurate spelling and more natural collocations, and avoid repeating the same idea with several near-synonyms. Proofreading carefully and learning vocabulary in phrases will make your expression clearer and more precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses with “which can lead to” and “as talking to an individual can help.” This gives the response some structural variety, but control is inconsistent: several sentences contain agreement, article, or sentence-boundary problems that make the reader work to follow the meaning. For example, “an individual have to speak” needs subject–verb agreement, and “In profession setting it also affect ones performance” has problems with the article and verb form. “Navigating essential administrative process…” is a fragment rather than a complete sentence, while the conclusion’s long sentence is joined unclearly. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and finite verb, and use full stops to separate complete ideas. More accurate control of these patterns would improve readability.
