Student answer (Band 5.0)
In now a days foreign language is not the problem any more with the latest development in mobile phones where you can translate the language and words.
In my opinion living in a country where you have to speak foreign language can cause serious social problem as well as practical problems if you don't understand or speak the respective language. It is very difficult to interact with the local people when you go out for visit or shopping. You can't clearly communicate the locals the what you actually needs or what you trying to say.
Let me share my experience, when I went to Germany for my higher studies it was very tough for me to communicate with my batchmates and local people. I barely go outside then I met a friend who already lives there he understands the german language. Sometimes it made me isolate when I can't clearly share my ideas to the people who studies with me in the university. I even can't talk with my university teachers who taeches me there. I don't do grocery alone whenever I go alone I don't understand what they are speaking. During my studies I have applied for many jobs but I couldn't the get any of the job due to the language barrier.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You take a relevant position: you agree that limited ability in the local language can create social and practical difficulties. The Germany example supports this with problems communicating with classmates and teachers, shopping, and finding work. However, the response addresses the task only partially: the opening claim that translation apps mean foreign languages are “not the problem any more” is not reconciled with your later agreement, and the conclusion is unfinished (“To conclude, foreign language”). The examples are relevant but mostly listed rather than explained, so the effects on daily life are not fully developed. The response is also 41 words below the 250-word minimum; the 9 words copied from the prompt were not counted. Develop your position consistently and complete the conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is some organisation: you begin with a general statement, give your opinion, then use a personal example from Germany. The experience provides a recognisable focus for the main paragraph. However, progression is limited because several consequences are added one after another without clear grouping or explanation, and the final paragraph stops after “To conclude, foreign language,” leaving the response without a completed ending. Connections between ideas are also sometimes unclear, as in “I barely go outside then I met a friend,” where the relationship between events needs clearer sequencing. Use separate paragraphs for your position, social effects, practical effects, and conclusion, and connect examples with precise transitions rather than relying on a list.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “communicate,” “local people,” “higher studies,” and “language barrier,” which helps convey your experiences. The range is nevertheless limited and some expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, making parts of the account harder to follow. For example, “share my ideas to the people” and “I barely go outside” do not express the intended meaning naturally; “I couldn’t the get any of the job” also contains unclear phrasing. Spelling errors such as “taeches” and “german” further reduce accuracy. Build a wider set of precise phrases for social isolation, everyday transactions, and employment, and check collocations and spelling when revising.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including “It is very difficult to interact with the local people when you go out for visit or shopping.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to understand. Examples include “In now a days,” “the what you actually needs,” and “I even can’t talk with my university teachers who taeches me there.” Tense and agreement are also inconsistent: “I barely go outside then I met a friend” shifts from present to past, while “I don’t do grocery alone whenever I go alone” is structurally confusing. Practise accurate past-tense narration and sentence boundaries, and check articles, subject–verb agreement, and word order.
