Student answer (Band 5.0)
In recent years, speak a foreign language has become a widely discussed issue. Some people believe that speak a foreign language can cause serious social problems, While other hold different opinions. In my perspective agree with this. This essay will explain the reasons for my view.
One main reason why i agree is that people faces numerous problems whem they living in a country where they speak a foreign language. They face numerous of problem during communications due to the way of taking and vocabulary also several of people confuse when they talk in other language. For example, when a student go to abroad before they going they clear their ielts exam as well, but when they reach on other country when they will talk to other persons they looks confused. Later on,they way of talking , when they will live there and makes friends. Therefore, i see numerous of student deported from abroads due to their weak speaking of foreign lanuage.
Another important reason is that in foreign people go to school, college, university and office. In working place they face a lot of difficultiesespecially in meeting and lecture, since the foreign language is not your mother tongue. For instance, my brother was goes to germany they does work in software company. During meeting they lose their confidence due to speaking of german language, moreover they does not picked the important point properly. As a result, then later, a month later, he was expelled from office.
In conclusion, although some people believe speak a foreign lanuage not causing a serious problems, I believe that people faced many problems because their way of taking and language make it difficulties for others to understand them.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You take a clear position in favour of the statement and give two relevant reasons: communication difficulties in everyday life and problems at school or work. The examples about students abroad and your brother in Germany help connect these points to real situations. However, the discussion is only partly developed: the first example is difficult to follow, and the claim that students are deported because of weak speaking skills is not explained or supported. The essay also focuses mainly on practical and workplace difficulties, with little explanation of wider social problems such as isolation or difficulty forming relationships. To strengthen the response, explain the consequences of each problem more clearly and address both social and practical effects.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Phrases such as “One main reason,” “Another important reason” and “In conclusion” make the main stages easy to identify. However, progression within the paragraphs is often unclear: the student example moves from taking an IELTS exam to confusion, making friends and deportation without showing how these points connect. Some linking is mechanical or repetitive, particularly repeated references to problems and the use of “therefore” and “as a result.” Pronouns such as “they” and “he” also make it difficult to track who is being discussed. Organise each paragraph around one clear point, then explain and illustrate it in a logical sequence.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “communications,” “confidence,” “meeting” and “mother tongue,” so the reader can identify the subject of your examples. However, the range is limited and several expressions are repeated, especially “problems” and “foreign language.” Inaccurate word choice and collocation sometimes make meaning difficult to understand, as in “the way of taking” and “deported from abroads.” There are also spelling errors, including “lanuage” and “whem.” Build a wider set of accurate phrases for communication barriers, social integration and workplace misunderstandings, and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary would make your examples clearer and help you express the effects of language difficulties.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a reason clause beginning “since” and a result clause beginning “As a result.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement and sentence construction, sometimes making the meaning hard to follow. Examples include “people faces,” “when they living,” “my brother was goes” and “they does not picked.” Several sentences also combine clauses without clear grammatical control, particularly the long example about students going abroad. Practise forming accurate present and past-tense sentences, especially with subject–verb agreement and auxiliary verbs. Then build longer sentences from those accurate patterns, using full stops to separate ideas when a sentence becomes difficult to control.
