Student answer (Band 5.0)

Living in a nation where you have to speak a foreign language that can cause serious issues for society, as well as practical issues. I agree with this statement.

To commence with, there are many reasons why I agree with this view. Firstly, they can face various difficulties by making new friends of new country. Because you have not ability to speak other language in well manner. Although, they have slightly command of foreign language, you can face obstacles by speaking with their own residence. Moreover, they cannot understand their language properly. For example,When Indian residences go to abroad country for their education then they need appropriate language skills. As a result, if they have not considerably language skills, they will not be able to spend and make new friends in abroad.

Furthermore, When they will meet their individuals such as doctors, shopkeepers and professors they face practical problems. Also, when people go to the shop for employment they will take their foriegn language skill certificate. Because any abroad country businessman will require your lanhuage skills for job. The reason is that when they speak to their customers so absloutely users will speak in their national language. For instance, these days english has become an international language. Therefore, we have at least good command of English.

To sum up, living in a country without their national language cause various problems for us. Because we cannot speak with each and other without appropriate language skills.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

Your position is stated clearly in the opening (“I agree with this statement”), and you give relevant social and practical reasons, including difficulty making friends and communicating with doctors, shopkeepers and professors. However, the ideas are only partly developed: the examples about Indian students and employment are broad, and the link between language difficulty and serious social problems could be explained more fully. The conclusion repeats the general point rather than drawing together your main reasons. The response contains 235 words, so it is 15 words below the required minimum; the eight words copied from the task prompt are not counted. Develop each reason with a specific explanation or example and ensure the response meets the minimum length.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The paragraphs broadly separate social difficulties from practical ones, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Moreover,” and “To sum up” help show the intended sequence. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear. For example, “Although, they have slightly command…” does not connect smoothly to the preceding point, and the shift from employment to customers’ language needs a clearer explanation. Several linking expressions are used mechanically or inaccurately, including “Because” as a sentence opener and “Therefore” before a point that is not fully established. Use fewer formulaic connectors and make the relationship between each example and its main idea explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “social problems,” “practical problems,” “language skills,” and “obstacles,” so the reader can identify your main concerns. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making meaning difficult to follow. Phrases such as “new friends of new country,” “their own residence,” and “spend and make new friends in abroad” are not natural ways to express your ideas. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “foriegn,” “lanhuage,” and “absloutely.” Build accuracy by learning common collocations for communication, employment and settling in another country, and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional idea (“if they have not…”) and a reason clause beginning “when.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and frequent errors affect clarity. The opening is a sentence fragment: “Living in a nation… that can cause…”; the relative clause does not connect correctly to the main idea. Other examples include “you have not ability,” “they will face” expressed as “they face” after a future-time clause, and “living… cause,” where the subject and verb do not agree. Articles, pronouns and sentence boundaries also need attention. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then check tense, agreement and punctuation.
