Student answer (Band 5.5)

living in a country where people have to speak a foreing language can be a really stress full situation. Along with that it also causes social and practical issues.i completely agree with the statement as language barriers can cause numerous difficulties for the people , not understanding what the people are talking about can cause some social issues plus it makes you feel under confident and isolated. Along with that there are alot of practical reasons too

Some social problems that people can face is not not being able to express yourself or understand what the people are saying ,these things can make others feel isolated, stressed along with that it can also be the cause of anxiety, depression, which can break a person mentally.

Furthermore, language barrier can also creat a alot of practical problems. People can face problems in employment , Difficulties in paperworks, Asking for proper healthcare facilities and other documents. For instance, even if it's a student who studies abroad or people who come on work visa , after a certain period of time they need to renew multiple documents so, if they don't speak the language fluently the process of documentation could go wrong or they might not recive the proper healthcare.

There might be some of the hardships that might be faced by alot of people in terms of social and practical issues however; these problems are not permanent and can be resolved by learning and practicing that certain language with confidence also in modren times there are translaters which can come handy in tough situations.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the opening: “I completely agree,” and you address both social and practical consequences, as the prompt requires. The social paragraph explains how difficulty expressing yourself can lead to isolation and stress, while the practical paragraph gives relevant examples involving employment, paperwork, healthcare and document renewal. These points make the response relevant and cover the main parts of the task. However, some claims—such as language barriers causing depression or a person not receiving proper healthcare—are asserted rather than explained, and the examples could show more precisely how the problem arises. The final paragraph introduces ways to overcome the difficulties, but their relationship to your overall agreement could be made clearer. Develop fewer examples in greater depth.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on social problems, one on practical problems, and a concluding paragraph that acknowledges possible solutions. This helps the reader follow the main line of argument. You also use linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “For instance,” and “however.” At times, though, connections feel mechanical or unclear: “Along with that” is repeated, and the final paragraph combines hardships, their temporary nature, language learning and translation tools without clearly showing how these ideas relate. Some sentences also run several points together, making the progression harder to follow. Give each paragraph a more focused purpose, use a wider range of precise transitions, and make the conclusion directly restate your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “language barriers,” “isolated,” “employment,” “healthcare facilities,” and “renew documents.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “work visa” and “documentation.” However, spelling errors and imprecise or awkward word choices are noticeable, including “foreing,” “stress full,” “paperworks,” “creat,” and “translaters.” Some phrases are also repetitive or unnatural, such as “a lot of practical reasons” where you mean problems. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding your argument, but they limit precision and fluency. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations for social and administrative difficulties.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional example beginning “if they don't speak the language fluently” and a contrast introduced by “however.” The main meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors and punctuation problems remain. For example, “Some social problems that people can face is” has subject–verb disagreement, and “not not being able” contains an unnecessary repetition. Several sentences join independent ideas with commas or lack clear sentence boundaries, particularly in the introduction and the social-problems paragraph. Capitalisation is also inconsistent. Work on agreement, sentence boundaries, and punctuation, then check each sentence for a clear subject and verb. More accurate control of these patterns would make your ideas easier to read.
