Student answer (Band 5.5)

A lots of people found that, talking in other language where its from, creates problematic atmosphere in general and these type of situations also can lead to practical problem. However, I agree with the statement because sometimes people often feels down for not understanding or speaking a language where they are staying. I will discuss its causes and affects with an example in the below paragraph.

To begin with, causes that can leads into various moments in person's life. Many individuals find difficult to speak foreign language because they are not used to speak the language and understanding the words coming from another person can create misunderstanding in several ways. Thus, it is often being shown in public, that people faced racism and embracement typically. However, person stucks in practical problems, where they do not have any idea but want to communicate to other person. For example, a person stays in Spain but does not speak Spanish and he goes to bank to withdraw the money, but when he speaks in broken Spanish, it is difficult for employee to understand what the person wants, and generally these situations often leads to a practical problems. These are the few causes that happens in foreign countries , where the main problem is a language barrier.

On the other hand, these type of situations affects people in many ways. A person affects with the demotivation, because they feels that, they are not capable to speak a language where they are staying and how they will survive with this. For example, When India and Pakistan divided into two separate countries, many citizens from India went to Pakistan by mistake and stuck at the moment, as they do not know about Urdu (Pakistan's language), the situation created hectic moment for both the countries at that time because of a language problem, there were several people jailed without clearity or misunderstanding conversations. As a result, it affects to people in foreign country.

In conclusion, I agree that language barrier can cause vital problems, but I believe it can easily resolved by learning the basic words from that particular country, where person wants to stay and speak. This solution brings basic understanding between a native speaker and an immigrant. Also, lt encourages them to learn in depth after studying and speaking basic foreign language.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you agree that living with a language barrier can create both social and practical difficulties. The bank example in Spain is relevant and helps explain how communication problems can affect everyday tasks. You also address social effects, including feeling demotivated and experiencing misunderstanding. However, some points are less fully developed than others. The discussion of racism and embarrassment is asserted rather than explained, and the historical example about the India–Pakistan partition is difficult to connect precisely to the experience of living in a foreign-language country. The conclusion offers a practical solution, but it could relate more directly to how far you agree. Develop each example with a clearer explanation of its relevance to the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The first body paragraph focuses mainly on practical communication problems, while the second discusses emotional and social effects, so the reader can follow the broad progression. However, some linking is mechanical or unclear. Phrases such as “To begin with” and “On the other hand” signal sections, but the relationship between ideas is not always logical; “On the other hand” suggests a contrast where you are actually adding another consequence. References such as “these type of situations” and “it affects” are sometimes unclear, and the final sentence introduces learning the language without fully linking it to the preceding argument. Use more precise referencing and make each paragraph’s central point explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “language barrier,” “misunderstanding,” “demotivation” and “native speaker,” and the reader can generally identify your intended meaning. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision. Examples include “problematic atmosphere,” “causes that can leads into various moments,” “person stucks,” and “hectic moment”; these do not express the intended ideas naturally. There are also spelling or word-form problems, such as “embracement” and “clearity.” Build a reliable set of topic phrases, such as “social isolation,” “face practical difficulties,” and “struggle to communicate,” and check that each word fits its grammatical and contextual role. This will make your argument clearer and more idiomatic.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use both simple and longer sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because,” “where” and “as,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, errors in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence construction occur across the response. For example, “people often feels” should be “people often feel,” and “these situations often leads” should be “these situations often lead.” In “it can easily resolved,” the passive requires “be resolved.” Some sentences are also awkwardly constructed, such as “A person affects with the demotivation,” making the relationship between subject and action unclear. Work on accurate subject–verb agreement and complete clause patterns before adding complexity. More consistently controlled complex sentences would improve clarity.
