Student answer (Band 5.0)

It sparks a lot of debate nowadays that if while living in a country where you have to speak a foreign language can cause serious social problems as well as practical problems or not.I both agree with that and disagree with that at the same time, i have a strong opinion let me tell you why.

In the agreement i will say that every country has its native language like arabic, spanish, chinese and etc...., if a person is living in a country where english is not there first language it will definetely in start will create social problems for him and somehow practical problems as well for example if he is a student he will suffer to communicate with his other fellows who dont speak english well and if he works somewhere in foreign he will suffer to communicate with his clients and will only left with options of doing odd jobs.

One of my friend moved to saudia past year he went there to find a better oppertunity but due to strong language barrier he cant survive there no more than 11 months which he tells that were the most difficult time of his life.

In the disagreement i would say that AI has demolished all the language barriers you just have to speak in your phone and give a command to convert that into any language spoken all over the world within seconds it will convert your sentence which you spoke in your language into any language. and you can also learn any language using any certain AI software.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You address both sides of the question and state a mixed position: “I both agree with that and disagree with that.” The examples about a student, a worker, and your friend’s move to Saudi Arabia are relevant, but their implications are only briefly explained. The opposing point about AI is also relevant, yet it is asserted rather than examined; for instance, you do not consider situations where translation tools may be unavailable or insufficient for building relationships. Your conclusion and overall extent of agreement are not made clear. The response is 238 words, so it is 12 words below the required minimum; this limits the space available to develop and support your position. Explain each main idea more fully and state your final view explicitly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic structure: an introduction, a paragraph presenting agreement, and one presenting disagreement. Phrases such as “In the agreement” and “In the disagreement” help signal the change in viewpoint, and the personal example follows the point about language barriers. However, the overall progression is limited: the final paragraph ends abruptly, without a conclusion that brings the two sides together. Some sentences contain several ideas joined by “and,” making relationships between points harder to follow. The opening sentence is also difficult to process because its clauses are not clearly separated. Use clearer paragraph development, divide long sentences, and add a concluding paragraph that restates your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “language barrier,” “communicate,” “social problems,” and “practical problems.” These choices make your main meaning understandable. However, the range is limited and several expressions are inaccurate or informal, such as “odd jobs,” “demolished all the language barriers,” and “find a better opportunity.” Spelling errors, including “definetely,” “oppertunity,” and “saudia,” are noticeable and reduce the accuracy of the writing. Aim for more precise topic vocabulary and check spelling carefully. For example, describe the specific difficulties caused by limited proficiency, and qualify claims about AI rather than saying it removes all barriers.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer sentences and conditional ideas, but complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make parts of the response difficult to read. The opening, “It sparks a lot of debate nowadays that if while living…,” does not form a clear grammatical sentence. In “if he is living… it will definetely in start will create,” the clause structure and placement of the verb phrase are problematic. There are also errors in articles, agreement, and punctuation, as in “english is not there first language” and “One of my friend.” Capitalisation and sentence boundaries need attention too. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses using “because,” “although,” and “if.”
