Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is a need and necessity in this modern era to leave your place and start living in another place. This demands so many things to be replaced and one among these is language and culture. I agree with the statement in so many ways.

If you start living in a separate country and you do not know the language, this can cause countless problems for you. These can be culturally , ethically or simply a communication gap. This communication gap reminds me of a youtuber or content creator from UK, who was on a visit to Afghanistan. He was making video and occasionally started talking to a group of veiled women with his camera on. A local man came and asked him to shut the camera nut he did not understand. The local got angry and the youtuber got a hard blow from the man on his face because it was against their culture to talk to their women. This was a cultural problem and can easily be handled if he knew the language.

We can talk of it in so many ways. For example, a person leaving his country for another, it is his responsibility to learn their language. I am going to Germany and I am learning German. This is because I will be studying in their universities where I will need to interact to so many people, will be doing paper work and so many things. If I avoid learning the language, I will face the music. I will encounter so many hurdles in my practical life there.

Language learning is also necessary for business. For instance, China is a hub of business centers of the world. It is home to so many cheap but good products . If someone with the Chinese language skill visits there , he can do a lot of best deals because , its their country and they will speak Chinese there. This can make a huge difference and he can lock best business deals.

So, learning native language is not only a skill. It open so any doors of opportunities and can help in eradication of so many real life complexities and hurdles.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you agree that living where a foreign language is spoken can create serious difficulties. You address both social and practical effects, using the Afghanistan anecdote to illustrate a cultural misunderstanding and your plans to study in Germany and the China business example to discuss practical consequences. This covers the task well and shows some development beyond simply stating your view. However, the social example is not fully explained: the incident also involves cultural norms and the visitor’s behaviour, so clarify how language knowledge would have prevented the problem. The business point is relevant but broad; explain more specifically how language barriers affect negotiations or everyday transactions. More balanced development of these points would strengthen the response further.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall structure: an introduction states your view, followed by paragraphs on social, practical and business consequences, and a concluding summary. Examples generally appear in the relevant paragraphs, helping the reader follow your argument. However, some links between ideas are mechanical or unclear. For instance, “We can talk of it in so many ways” does not clearly introduce the next point, and “For example, a person leaving his country for another, it is his responsibility…” is an awkward transition into your personal example. Repeated use of “so many” also makes the progression feel less controlled. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example explicitly to the claim it supports; this would make the organisation more consistently smooth.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary to discuss language, culture and practical difficulties, including “communication gap,” “interact,” “hurdles” and “opportunities.” Some less common expressions, such as “face the music” and “lock best business deals,” show an attempt to vary your language, although the latter is not a natural collocation and the idiom is informal for this essay. There are also imprecise or repetitive choices, including “need and necessity,” “so many things,” and “best deals.” These do not prevent the reader from understanding your main points, but they limit precision and academic tone. Prefer specific terms such as “administrative tasks,” “negotiate effectively” and “significant obstacles,” and check word forms and spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “If you start living in a separate country…” and “If I avoid learning the language…”. Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in sentence construction, agreement and punctuation. For example, “a person leaving his country for another, it is his responsibility” is a sentence fragment followed by an unclear clause; “It open so any doors” has subject–verb agreement and sentence-structure problems; and “where I will need to interact to so many people” uses an incorrect grammatical pattern. Commas are also sometimes placed awkwardly around clauses. Practise building complete sentences around one main clause, and check agreement, articles and prepositions when editing.
