Student answer (Band 5.0)
IT IS OFTEN SAID THAT LIVING IN A COUNTRY WHERE YOU HAVE TO SPEAK A DIFFERENT LANGUAGE OR IN A SIMPLE WORD SPEAK A FOREIGN LANGUAGE CAN CAUSE SERIOUS PROBLEM SOCIAL PROBLEM, AS WELL AS PRATICAL PROBLEMS. I PARTIALLY AGREE WITH THIS STATEMENT BECAUSE AT FIRST IT IS DIFFICULT IN FOREIGN CONTRY TO ADAPT A FOREIGN LANGUAGE. BUT WITH TIME PEOPLE CAN UNDERSTOOD AND LEARN VARIOUS THINGS WITH FOREIGN LANGUAGE.
FIRSTLY, MIRAGATING TO NEW COUNTRY WITH DIFFERENT LANGUAGE HAS BEEN MOST PEOPLE DIFFICULT DECISION ON THEIR LIFE BECAUSE WHERE A PERSON HAS TO LEARN NEW LIFESTYLE AND LANGUAGE. AT FIRST, IT CAN CAUSE SOME PROBLEM WITH LANGUAGE BARRIER. IT CAN EFFECT ON SOCIAL PROBLEM LIKE WITH THE FRIEND, AT WORKING PLACES ALSO. MAIN PROBLEM CAN OCCUR ON THE JOBS AND EDUCATION BECAUSE IT IS PLACES WHERE A PERSON HAS TO PERFECT THE LANGUAGE IF NOT THEN MANY PROBLEM CAN CREATES.
SECONDLY, MOST OF THE PROBLEM CAN BE SOLVE WITH TIME WHEN A PERSON SPEND A SUDDEN PERIOD OF TIME IN FOREIGN COUNTRY CAN SOLVE THE LANGUAGE PROBLEM.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You state a position—“I partially agree”—and give relevant reasons, including language barriers in friendships, workplaces, jobs and education. You also suggest that difficulties can lessen over time. However, the response addresses the issue only partially: the practical and social problems are named but not explained with specific examples, and the counterpoint about learning over time is only briefly stated. The conclusion and fuller development are also missing, so your position is not supported in enough depth. The response contains 167 words, below the required 250; 10 words copied from the task prompt were excluded from that count. To strengthen your answer, explain one social and one practical consequence, add a relevant example, and develop how language learning changes the situation.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
Your response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph beginning “FIRSTLY,” and another beginning “SECONDLY.” These markers help the reader identify the order of your points, and the ideas generally relate to the question. However, progression is limited: the second body paragraph makes only one brief point and does not clearly connect it to the examples in the first. Several sentences repeat the idea of language problems without adding detail, and links such as “because” and “if not then” do not always make the relationship between ideas clear. Use a fuller paragraph structure, with each paragraph focused on one claim, explanation and example, and add a concluding paragraph that restates your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “language barrier,” “adapt,” “lifestyle,” “education” and “foreign country,” so the reader can identify the subject of your argument. However, the range is limited and several word choices, collocations and spellings make the message less clear or natural. For example, “miragating” appears to mean “migrating,” “a sudden period of time” does not express the intended idea, and “problem social problem” is repetitive and awkward. “At working places” and “perfect the language” are also not natural expressions in this context. Build a bank of accurate phrases for discussing communication, employment and integration, and check spelling and collocations when editing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with reasons, such as the opening sentence beginning “I partially agree … because,” and you use sequencing language to organise points. However, the range is limited, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For example, “people can understood” needs a correctly formed verb, while “many problem can creates” has problems with both number agreement and verb form. The sentence beginning “when a person spend a sudden period of time” also has an unclear structure. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then extend them with one clear subordinate clause. Check each sentence for a complete main clause and consistent verb forms.
