Student answer (Band 5.0)

I agree with the statement that living in a country where you have to speak a foreign language can cause serious social problems, as well as practical problems. Why i am agree with this statement because if i cannot speak or understant foreign language can lead to many misunderstandings.I have to face many problems in my daily life.It will also a disadvantage for my studies and also for my work. For example, if i am between a lecture and teacher is giving explanation on particular topics and if i didn't know meaning of a word or if i didn't understant a single sentence can cause problems in my understanding of lesson.Another problem that i could face is that if any teacher or any one from my classmate or school asked me question or asked me to explain this topic, if i know the answer and also have explaination about topic it will be harder to explain it.This problem can also affect on relation with friends and relatives. If any worng word or prononcesion occure between any conversation can affect. If we see this in practical way it can also cause major problems. For example,if i am working in a market or mall and customer asked me to bring something and i did not understant properly and gave them worng product it can affect on my job.Another example there are some restriction on some activites on different places and i am not able to understand, it can cause very serious problems like i could be jailed or can get punishment for that.So i agree with this statement

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you agree that speaking a foreign language can create both social and practical problems. You give relevant examples involving understanding lessons, communicating with classmates, serving customers, and following rules. However, several points are introduced briefly rather than explained in depth, and the response does not fully develop how these difficulties become serious social problems. The discussion also lacks a concluding explanation beyond repeating your agreement. The response is 240 words, so it does not meet the 250-word minimum; this limits the opportunity to develop and support your ideas. To strengthen the response, explain the consequences of one or two examples more fully and add a clear conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic sequence: it introduces your agreement, gives study and relationship examples, then moves to workplace and rule-related problems. This helps the reader identify your main points. However, the writing is presented as one long paragraph, so the different ideas are not clearly grouped, and there is little overall progression between them. Linking phrases such as “Another problem” and “For example” are repeated, while some connections are unclear, particularly the shift from friends and relatives to practical problems. Use separate paragraphs for the introduction, social problems, practical problems, and conclusion. Vary your transitions and make the relationship between each example and your main argument explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “misunderstandings,” “disadvantage,” “customer,” and “restriction.” However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, such as “problems” and “understand.” Some inaccurate word choices and spelling errors make parts of the response less clear, for example “worng product,” “prononcesion,” and “explaination.” There are also unnatural expressions, including “in a practical way” and “affect on relation.” Build a wider set of accurate phrases for communication difficulties and their consequences, and check spelling and collocations carefully. More precise vocabulary would make your examples clearer and more convincing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including conditional examples beginning “if I cannot speak” and “if I am working in a market or mall.” However, the range is limited, and complex sentences are often faulty, which sometimes makes the reader work to understand the meaning. Examples include “Why i am agree with this statement because,” “It will also a disadvantage,” and “if i know the answer … it will be harder to explain it.” These show problems with verb forms, sentence construction, and agreement. Punctuation and capitalisation are also inconsistent, with several sentences joined together without spaces after full stops. Practise building accurate sentences with “because,” “if,” and “when,” and proofread for complete sentence boundaries.
