Student answer (Band 5.5)

Over the recent few decades, individuals choose to move to foreign countries for work and study purposes. Therefore, it is necessary for them to speak foreign language while living there which can effect their social life and also it may cause practical issues in their life. I partially agree with this statement and discuss my view points in the enumerated paragraphs.

To commence with, the reasons that how it affect social and practical life of masses. First and foremost is that it can cause social issues such as they can face many hurdles while communicating with other people. To explain it, foreign people speak fluent and different language from local people so it is very hard for them to talk with anyone for sharing their views. As a result, they can feel isolated and face many health issues such as anxiety and depression. Another drawback is that international studies can face problems in understanding educational concepts. Thus, it will affect their academics results as well as their overall growth and development.

On the other other, it also cause practical issues in the life of individuals. Firstly, while searching for job they can face hurdles due to lack of understanding of foreign language. So, their work environment will be more stressfull and they can not earn more amount of money which leads to low economic generation for proper living standards. Moreover, they are not able to make new friends and built strong relationships with others which is very beneficial for expanding their knowledge. They can learn about other cultures and traditions which increases cultural diversity. Resultantly, they do not have healthy relationships with whom they can pass time and enjoy it.

In conclusion, living in foreign nations bring social and practical problems in the life of people. They face difficulties in work environment as well as it is hard to communicate with others to built strong relationships.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You take a position by saying, “I partially agree,” and discuss both social and practical consequences, including isolation, study difficulties, and barriers to employment. These points are relevant, but the response does not fully explain the extent of your agreement: the conclusion presents the problems as definite without clarifying what makes your agreement partial. Several ideas are also asserted rather than developed. For example, the link between language difficulty and “many health issues” would be stronger with a brief explanation or example, and the point about academic concepts is not clearly connected to the task’s wider practical and social effects. State your position more precisely and support each main point with a specific example or explanation.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion, and the paragraphs broadly separate social from practical effects. This gives the reader a basic route through your ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the practical paragraph moves from employment to friendships and cultural diversity without explaining how these points connect. Some linking phrases are mechanical or inaccurate, such as “To commence with” and “Resultantly,” while “On the other other” disrupts the transition. References such as “it” and “they” can also be unclear. Organise each paragraph around one central claim, then explain its consequence, and use simpler, more precise transitions to show the relationship between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “isolated,” “anxiety,” “economic generation,” and “cultural diversity,” so the response can communicate its main subject. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision. For instance, “international studies can face problems” appears to mean international students, and “earn more amount of money” is not a natural expression. There are also spelling errors such as “stressfull,” alongside repeated general terms such as “issues,” “hurdles,” and “problems.” Choose vocabulary that fits the intended meaning, check common word partnerships, and avoid using formal-sounding phrases when a simpler, accurate expression is available.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including cause-and-effect structures such as “As a result, they can feel isolated” and “which leads to low economic generation.” This shows an effort to connect ideas, but errors in sentence construction and basic grammar are frequent enough to make some sentences awkward or unclear. Examples include “the reasons that how it affect,” “it also cause,” and “living in foreign nations bring,” where verb forms or agreement are incorrect. Articles and plurals also need attention, as in “speak foreign language” and “academics results.” Practise checking subject–verb agreement, verb forms, and articles, then revise each sentence to ensure its structure is complete and its meaning is clear.
