Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a clear, though qualified, position in the introduction (“I partially agree”) and return to it in the conclusion. The response also addresses both social and practical consequences, with examples involving employment, education, business, and making friends. However, the position is not fully explained: the conclusion says the benefits are greater, but the body does not clearly compare those benefits with the problems or explain when they outweigh them. Several points are asserted rather than developed, such as students being unable to learn and people being unable to start businesses. Extend one or two examples by explaining the specific difficulty and its consequences, and make the basis for your partial agreement consistent throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs signalled by “On one hand” and “On the other hand,” and a conclusion. This helps the reader follow the broad direction of your argument. Within the paragraphs, however, ideas are often listed rather than linked in a clear progression. For example, the first body paragraph moves from expressing feelings to employment, students, and business without explaining how the points connect. Some linking is mechanical or unclear, and “however” and “furthermore” do not always introduce a fully developed relationship. Organise each paragraph around one main claim, then explain and illustrate it before moving to the next point; use clear references to avoid repetition.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “language barriers,” “social interaction,” “academic education,” and “job opportunities,” so the main ideas are generally identifiable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “serious social new obstacles,” “physical problems” where practical problems are intended, and “foreign felling” for feelings. Spelling and word forms also need attention, as in “batter” and “grates.” Build a more precise set of topic phrases and check whether words naturally combine; for instance, describe barriers as “communication difficulties” and explain that they can “limit access to employment.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer structures, including a contrast between the two sides and a conditional example about applying for restaurant work. However, the range is limited, and errors in sentence construction and basic forms occur frequently enough to make parts of the response difficult to read. Examples include “While speak foreign creates,” “communication become difficult,” and “the student not able to learn”; these need a complete subject and correctly formed verb. Agreement and articles are also inconsistent, as in “language play” and “a serious problems.” Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with clauses using “because,” “although,” or “if.” Check each sentence for a subject, a finite verb, and consistent singular or plural forms.
