Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: you completely agree that language barriers can cause both social and practical problems, and the conclusion returns to this view. You address both parts of the statement with relevant examples, including difficulty communicating with a doctor and feeling isolated. This meets the task well. However, some ideas are more fully explained than others: the social paragraph mentions understanding cultural traditions but does not show in detail how this affects relationships, while the final suggestion about government language classes is introduced without being developed. To strengthen the response further, explain the consequences of each example and connect them explicitly to the seriousness of the problems.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for social and practical effects, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “To sum up” helps readers follow the argument. The examples generally appear in the relevant paragraph, so the progression is easy to understand. At times, however, linking is mechanical because several sentences repeat “This is because” or begin with a connector such as “Therefore” or “Hence.” Some references are also unclear, particularly “they” in the final paragraph, where the reader must infer who is meant. Use a wider range of links and make references explicit to create smoother progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “language barrier,” “lonely and isolated,” “social interaction,” and “communication effectively.” These phrases show an attempt to discuss both social and practical consequences. However, the range is limited and some word choices or forms are noticeably inaccurate, such as “a various difficulty,” “culture tradition,” and “learning languages facilities.” Spelling errors such as “mangaing” and “beacause” also reduce accuracy. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding the overall argument, but they make parts of the response less natural. Build a bank of accurate collocations for migration, communication, and employment, and check spelling and word forms when editing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including cause-and-effect structures with “because” and “when,” and the main meaning is generally clear. Some sentences are controlled, such as “For instance, a person may find it difficult to explain health problems to a doctor or understand important instructions.” However, errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and verb forms recur. Examples include “people live in foreign countries can face,” “a social and practical problems,” and “If people are not communicate properly.” Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in lowercase “i” and missing spaces after full stops. Practise accurate clause construction and subject–verb patterns, then proofread for articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries.
