Student answer (Band 5.5)

Living in a country where you have to speak a foreign language will result in serious social problems and practical problems. I completely agree with the statement, there are many problems such as staying individual and finding employement.

The main problem in foreign language country is their language. Without having knowledge on language people face many problems. Language as a barrier, will seperate a migrant from group of locals. Moreover, people feel isolated as they do not have any company. For example, one of my nigerian friend in our college do not show interest to join with us. However, he was unaware of our language, this made him filtered from our batch. As a result, he keep using the mobile by staying alone. Sometimes, staying individually develop lonely feeling which cause stress.

In addition, people face problems in finding the employement also in the work place. Furthermore, we should aware of the language of our locality to do work. In order to deal with the clients their language is needed. Moreover, in a work place to communicate with people we must aware of foreign language. In instance, students who study in other countries find hard to secure a job. Although they are skilled, with out knowledge on the foreign language it is difficult to find a job. This create the problems in their livelihood as well.

In conclusion, there are challenging issues to speak a foreign language such as mistakes and shy. This result to stay individual and hard in finding a job and those can be eliminated if there are any universal language that known to all.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the opening: “I completely agree,” and you address both social and practical consequences. The paragraphs on isolation and employment are relevant, and the example of your Nigerian friend helps illustrate the social impact. However, the practical-problem discussion focuses almost entirely on finding work, while the task also invites consideration of other everyday difficulties; this makes some parts less fully addressed than others. Several points are asserted rather than explained—for example, the claim that language difficulties cause stress could be linked more clearly to how isolation develops. The conclusion restates your view but introduces a universal language as a solution without developing that idea. Develop each main point with a clearer explanation and a specific supporting example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for social and employment problems, and a conclusion. This makes the main line of argument easy to follow. You also use linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “As a result,” and “In addition” to connect ideas. At times, however, these transitions feel mechanical or do not show the precise relationship between points; “Furthermore” and “Moreover” recur without adding much. Some references are unclear, such as “This create the problems,” where the reader must infer what “This” refers to. Improve cohesion by varying how you connect ideas and by naming the cause or consequence directly. Within paragraphs, make the progression from claim to explanation to example more consistent.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “isolated,” “clients,” “skilled,” and “livelihood,” and your meaning is generally understandable. However, the range is limited in places, with repeated use of “problems,” “language,” and “Moreover.” Several inaccurate word choices, collocations, and spelling errors reduce precision: “staying individual,” “filtered from our batch,” and “finding the employement” do not express your intended meanings naturally. There are also spelling errors such as “seperate” and “with out.” Build a more precise set of expressions for social exclusion and workplace communication, and check spelling and word forms carefully. More natural collocations will help you communicate your ideas with less effort for the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses beginning with “Although” and “In order to,” and most of your argument remains understandable. Some grammatical errors occur in sentence structure, verb forms, agreement, articles, and punctuation. For example, “I completely agree with the statement, there are many problems” joins two independent clauses with a comma, while “one of my nigerian friend … do not show” has errors in capitalization, number, and subject–verb agreement. “This create the problems” also shows a verb-agreement error. Practise forming accurate complex sentences and checking each sentence for a clear subject and correctly matched verb. Pay particular attention to articles and singular/plural forms; these corrections would make your meaning more consistently clear.
