Student answer (Band 5.5)
Living in a nation where you have to communicate in a foreign language can cause major problems. I believe language plays a pivotal role in effective communication and to express ideas clearly.
Mastering a foreign language is fruitful for an individual as it helps them in every aspect of there life. For a better communication with people, especially locals a native language is all you need. For instance, chinesse is very essential for bargaining in China especially if you want to buy the cheapest goods for export. Furthermore, people potray you differently and take you seriously, if you can talk to them in there local language. In corporate world you get access to many jobs with maximum wages if you know the local spoken language. For example, you only get hired for many white collor jobs or government jobs if you knew there language and it is one off the basic requirement for the job.
Although, it is not easy for an individual to learn any alien language as it demands hardwork and consistency. Many individuals who live in abroad or have a tight schedule face many troubles daily. People who work in back ends in a company where language is not the most important thing should learn the basics as it is non negotiable, whereas people who are travelling for a holiday do not need to learn the language at all.
Overall, language is essential is important for communication and open gates to many career opportunities, whereas individuals who are travelling for a short time do not need to learn the language.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You give a relevant view that language ability is important for communication and employment, and you acknowledge that short-term visitors may not need to learn the local language. However, the response does not clearly answer the extent to which you agree that living abroad can cause serious social and practical problems. Much of the discussion instead explains the benefits of learning a language, such as access to jobs and bargaining, so the causes and seriousness of the problems are only partly addressed. The examples are relevant but narrow, and the point about people working in a company’s “back ends” is not clearly connected to the question. State your degree of agreement directly, then develop specific social and practical difficulties and explain their effects with examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and ideas are generally grouped by topic. Linking expressions such as “For instance,” “Furthermore” and “Although” help show relationships between points. However, progression is uneven: the first body paragraph focuses on advantages of learning a language, while the next shifts to the difficulty of learning one and exceptions for workers or tourists, without clearly connecting these points to the stated problem. The conclusion repeats the importance of language but does not resolve the extent of agreement. Some connections are also unclear, particularly the sentence beginning “People who work in back ends.” Organise the body around social problems and practical problems, and use clear topic sentences and references to guide the reader.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “effective communication,” “bargaining,” “corporate world” and “career opportunities,” and the meaning is usually understandable. There is also an attempt to use less common expressions such as “pivotal role” and “non negotiable.” However, word choice and spelling errors are noticeable and sometimes make phrases awkward: “there life,” “potray,” “white collor,” and “one off the basic requirement” reduce accuracy. Some expressions are imprecise, including “back ends in a company” and “maximum wages.” Aim for accurate collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise language for the problems themselves—such as difficulty accessing services or forming relationships—would also help you address the task more directly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “as,” “whereas” and “if,” and most of your meaning can be followed. However, errors occur in basic sentence construction and grammatical forms. For example, “I believe language plays a pivotal role … and to express ideas clearly” does not maintain a parallel structure; “a better communication” uses an unnecessary article; and “if you knew there language” has an inconsistent conditional form and unclear pronoun reference. The final sentence, “language is essential is important,” repeats the verb structure. Review articles, agreement, pronoun forms and parallel phrasing, and proofread each sentence for a complete, consistent grammatical pattern.
