Student answer (Band 5.0)
In my opinion this can cause a social and practical issue because of so many reason because native people have more precision on the accent and their language while the foreigners even after learning could possibly make mistakes in speaking that can cause change in meaning, might ended up hurting someone or in practical way it causes unnecessary trouble If someone's doesn't understand what we're trying to say ,but if a foreigner focus deeply in learning a language and practice it more often then it can open so many doors of opportunity in terms of career for that person i believe it can be highly beneficial if we learn a language of that country

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You give a relevant position: language difficulties can create social and practical problems, while learning the local language can bring career opportunities. The example that a mistake might change meaning or hurt someone relates to the question, but it is not explained or illustrated in enough detail. The response therefore addresses the topic only partially: it does not develop the social and practical problems separately, and the benefits introduced at the end are not clearly connected to how strongly you agree or disagree. The response is also below the required 250 words, which limits how fully you can explain your reasons and provide relevant examples. Develop each main point with a specific situation and state your degree of agreement clearly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic line of thought: it first mentions possible difficulties and then contrasts these with the benefits of learning the language. The use of “but” signals this shift, and “because” introduces a reason. However, nearly all the ideas are packed into one long sentence, so the reader has difficulty seeing where one point ends and another begins. The contrast between problems and opportunities also needs clearer organisation, and the final view is not separated as a conclusion. Use distinct paragraphs for your position, supporting reasons and conclusion, and connect each idea with clear, accurate transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “accent,” “foreigners,” “change in meaning,” and “career.” These choices make your general subject clear, and “unnecessary trouble” conveys a practical consequence. However, the range is limited, with repeated general wording such as “cause,” “language,” and “so many,” and some phrases are imprecise or unnatural, including “more precision on the accent” and “open so many doors of opportunity.” Aim for more precise expressions that distinguish social misunderstandings from practical difficulties, and check collocations when using less familiar phrases. This would make your ideas clearer and more flexible.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to connect several ideas in a complex sentence using “because,” “while,” and “if,” showing some ability to form subordinate clauses. However, the sentence structure is often difficult to control, and errors sometimes make the meaning less clear. For example, “might ended up” has an incorrect verb form, while “If someone's doesn't understand” has an incorrect subject–verb construction. The response also has inconsistent capitalisation and punctuation, particularly where “If” begins in the middle of a sentence and clauses run together. Practise building shorter, complete sentences first, then combine them carefully; check verb forms and agreement before adding further clauses.
