Student answer (Band 6.0)

Living in a country where you have to speak a foriegn language rather than a mother tongue can cause serious social and practical challenges. I totally agree with this statement that, when you go to another country you have to speak in their native language. If you don't have much knowledge of that language it can cause serious problems, like difficulty in daily routine works and for the job placements as they prefer local language speakers.

Firstly, when you move to another country for the purpose of study, you have to gain prior knowledge of local language. In mostly institutes, there are many programs that are taught in native language of the country. So if you don't have any knowledge about that language then you have face a lot of difficulties. Because, you have less understanding of the subject taught it will also be difficult to complete the assign tasks and assignments. You will also face the limitation to interact with the class fellows and the local people. So that your pace of learning will get slow and and it can cause social problems.

Secondly, when you move abroad for the work purposes and that country will have different language. So it will be difficult for you to secure a job. Mostly odd or local jobs are based on local language because residents of that area visits that shop mostly and they usually interact with their home tongue. Moreover, in certain companies there are policies that they prefer their official language speaker rather than a foreign language. In this scenerio if you dont have any knowledge about language you have to face a lot of practical problems because you have less experience and interaction of local things.

To conclude, it is stated that if you have no or less knowledge of foreign language and you are moving to another country you have to face a lot of difficulties. So it is important that you have to gain prior knowledge of language so you can perform well in studies and in the practical field and to socially interact with people.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the opening: you totally agree that limited ability in the local language creates social and practical problems. You address both areas through study and employment, and the conclusion returns to your view with relevant advice. These features make the response purposeful and relevant. However, the support is uneven: the education paragraph explains difficulties with lessons and interaction, while the employment paragraph relies on broad claims about local jobs and company policies. The examples would be more convincing if you developed a specific situation and explained its consequences. To strengthen the response further, explore social problems beyond limited interaction with classmates and local people, and make the link between each example and the seriousness of the problem more explicit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, two body paragraphs organised around study and work, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “To conclude” help readers follow this structure. The progression is generally logical, and each body paragraph has a recognisable focus. At times, however, cohesion becomes mechanical because several sentences begin with “So” or repeat “you have to face,” and some links between ideas are not fully clear. For example, “So that your pace of learning will get slow” does not connect smoothly to the preceding point. Use a wider range of linking methods, including clear pronoun reference and cause-and-effect phrasing, and combine closely related points to make the progression more natural.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “native language,” “interact,” “local people,” and “practical problems.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “official language” and “secure a job.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, which sometimes makes the reader pause. Examples include “daily routine works,” “job placements,” “home tongue,” and “interaction of local things.” Spelling errors such as “foriegn,” “scenerio,” and “dont” also reduce accuracy. Build a bank of natural collocations for education, employment, and social integration, and check spelling and word forms carefully before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and the overall meaning is usually understandable. However, complex structures are often not controlled accurately, and errors occur across sentence construction, verb forms, articles, and punctuation. For instance, “you have to face a lot of difficulties” is preceded by an incomplete clause in “So if you don't have any knowledge about that language then you have face”; “when you move abroad for the work purposes and that country will have different language” is not a complete, well-formed sentence; and “residents of that area visits” has a subject–verb agreement error. Commas also interrupt sentences unnecessarily, as in “Because, you have less understanding.” Practise forming complete clauses and checking agreement, articles, and verb patterns.
