Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You state a position—“i strongly agree”—and provide two body paragraphs that attempt to explain social and cultural effects, so the response is connected to the topic. However, the reasons are difficult to identify and are not adequately explained or supported. For example, the first paragraph shifts between cultural values, privacy, and “likage” without showing clearly how speaking a foreign language causes these problems. The Nepal example is also unclear and does not establish the claimed social conflict. The conclusion repeats the position but does not resolve these gaps. The response is 245 words, five words below the 250-word minimum; the nine words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop two relevant reasons clearly and support each with a specific, explained example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a recognisable essay structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphs also begin with signposting such as “The primary reason” and “Another importance factor,” which helps indicate an intended progression. However, the ideas within paragraphs are not arranged clearly, and connections between sentences are often difficult to follow. For instance, the move from cultural values to “privacy” and then to “global world” in the first body paragraph is not explained. Linking phrases such as “In other words” and “As a result” do not consistently clarify the relationship between ideas. Pronouns such as “their” and “this issue” also have unclear references. Organise each paragraph around one reason, explain it step by step, and use linking expressions only when their logical relationship is clear.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You attempt topic-related vocabulary, including “social problems,” “community,” “culture,” “traditional,” and “communication,” and you try to use phrases such as “social conflict.” This shows an effort to discuss the subject beyond very basic language. However, vocabulary is often repetitive, and frequent spelling errors or inaccurate word choices make meaning difficult to understand. Examples include “serioul,” “socity,” “noum,” “likage,” and “forigen.” Some expressions, such as “harm our social noms” and “in cocete of nepal,” are unclear or unnatural. These problems limit the precision of your argument. Build a small set of accurate topic phrases and check spelling and collocations carefully; for example, distinguish “social norms” from “social problems” and use “cultural traditions” as a natural phrase.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt some longer sentence forms, including a relative clause in “living in a country you have to speak a foreign language” and a result clause beginning “As a result.” However, sentence structures are often incomplete or inaccurately formed, and errors frequently make the intended meaning hard to follow. For example, “While some people believe that cause the harm…” lacks a clear subject, while “The primary reason… is that affect their values” has no grammatical subject after “that.” There are also recurring problems with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, as in “a negative development in our socity” and the run-on sequence beginning “Another importance factor.” Practise complete subject–verb sentences first, then add subordinate clauses while checking that each clause has a clear subject and verb.
