Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response covers all parts of the task and provides a clear overview of the trends. You successfully identified the main features, such as the crossover point in 1971 and the peak of home ownership in the 1990s/2000s. However, the analysis could be improved by grouping the data more effectively rather than listing every year chronologically, which makes the report feel slightly mechanical. The summary is accurate, but ensure that the 'overall' section highlights the most significant contrast rather than just describing the start and end points. You have met the requirements well, but more analytical synthesis would elevate the score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use cohesive devices like 'However', 'In the year', and 'While' to link sentences. However, some transitions feel repetitive, and the use of punctuation is occasionally awkward, such as the semicolon usage in 'and also ;lowest'. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the overview from the detailed data analysis. To improve, try to vary your cohesive devices further and ensure that referencing between sentences remains smooth and natural throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'dominated', 'sharp decline', and 'witnessed'. There are several spelling errors, such as 'grpah', 'accomodation' (consistently misspelled), 'prefered', and 'manged'. These errors are noticeable but do not impede communication. To reach a higher band, you should work on spelling accuracy and attempt to use more precise collocations, such as 'home ownership rates' instead of 'owned household accomodation'. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the information clearly, but the recurring spelling mistakes limit the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are several grammatical slips, such as 'owned houses raised to above 30%' (should be 'rose') and 'both type of accomodations' (should be 'types'). Additionally, there are issues with article usage and subject-verb agreement, such as '80% people' (should be '80% of people'). While these errors are frequent, they rarely impede the reader's understanding of the data. Increasing the variety of complex structures and proofreading for basic verb tense consistency would help improve your accuracy.
