Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully identified the main trends and provided a clear overview of the data. You covered the key features, such as the peak in home ownership in 2001 and the inverse relationship between the two categories. However, there are some inaccuracies in your data reporting. For instance, you mention that rented accommodation reached 50% in the same accord as owned houses, which is not clearly supported by the chart's timeline. Additionally, your final sentence contains a contradiction regarding the 2011 figures, stating that rented accommodation is 37% while also implying it surpassed owned housing. More precise data extraction and careful proofreading of your figures would improve this score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices such as 'With regard to' and 'thereafter', which help the flow of information. However, the use of linking words is sometimes repetitive or slightly mechanical. The transition between the overview and the body paragraphs could be smoother. Additionally, the referencing in the final paragraph is slightly confusing, as the sequence of events becomes difficult to follow due to the phrasing 'in same accord with'. Improving the variety of your cohesive devices would enhance the logical progression of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'gradually', 'consistently', and 'residing'. However, the vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive, particularly the frequent use of 'no. of people' and 'houses'. There are also some minor issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'in same accord with', which is not standard academic phrasing. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise synonyms for trends and data, and ensure that your collocations are natural and appropriate for an academic report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. For example, 'it shown a slight decrease' should be 'it showed', and 'the no. of people... is the highest' should be 'was the highest'. There are also issues with punctuation, specifically the lack of full stops at the end of sentences in the first two paragraphs. While your meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors—particularly with verb tenses and subject-verb agreement—prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic grammatical accuracy will significantly improve your score.
