Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main trends and providing data for the years mentioned. You successfully highlighted the overall shift from a rental-dominated market to an ownership-dominated one. However, the report is essentially a list of data points. To reach a higher band, you should group the data more effectively—for example, by identifying the period of most rapid growth or comparing the two categories more dynamically rather than just listing percentages year by year. The overview is present but could be more analytical regarding the overall trend.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The response is organized chronologically, which makes the information easy to follow. You use some cohesive devices like 'To commence with', 'Furthermore', and 'However' to link your ideas. However, the paragraphing is quite weak; the entire body of the report is essentially one long paragraph. Breaking the information into logical paragraphs—perhaps one for the early period and one for the later period—would improve the structure. Additionally, some transitions are a bit mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother to avoid a repetitive 'subject-verb-data' structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have an adequate range of vocabulary to describe the data, such as 'proportion', 'surging', and 'fluctuate'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choices and inaccuracies. For example, 'possessed in leased accommodation' is not standard English, and 'around about' is redundant. You rely heavily on basic terms like 'numbers' and 'houses'. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary related to trends, such as 'a steady climb', 'a marginal decline', or 'the dominant form of housing'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. For instance, 'the proportion of households in possessed in leased accommodation' is grammatically incorrect. You also have issues with subject-verb agreement and tense consistency, such as 'it fluctuate in 2011' (should be 'fluctuated') and 'owned accommodations had around 64%'. Punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence structures are often repetitive, which limits the range of your writing.
