Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers the main features of the chart and provides a clear overview. You have successfully identified the key trends, such as the inversion of the two categories over the period. However, the task achievement is slightly hampered by inaccuracies in data reporting. For instance, you mention that rented accommodation experienced an 'upward trend at the beginning years,' which is not supported by the data showing a fall from 1918 to 1939. Additionally, some data points are misstated or confusingly presented. To reach a higher band, ensure that your data selection is precise and that your summary accurately reflects the visual information provided.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'However,' 'In contrast,' and 'By contrast,' to signal transitions between ideas. However, the flow is occasionally disrupted by mechanical errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'Looking at the begin years in the details.' The use of referencing is sometimes unclear, and the paragraphing could be more effectively managed to separate the distinct time periods more cleanly. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion,' 'upward trend,' and 'sharply declined.' However, there are several spelling errors ('begining,' 'continuosly,' 'reprented,' 'drametically') and word choice issues ('begin years,' 'Owed accommodation' instead of 'Owned'). These errors are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader. To improve, focus on accurate spelling and using more precise collocations related to data description. Expanding your vocabulary to include more sophisticated synonyms for 'increase' and 'decrease' would also help elevate your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in punctuation, such as missing spaces after commas and unnecessary capitalization (e.g., 'The Rented,' 'The Owed'). Subject-verb agreement and tense usage are also problematic, such as 'The owned accommodation figure drametically increased' and 'Both figure remained stable.' While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to lower the score. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for capitalization and spacing would significantly improve your grammatical accuracy.
