Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response covers the main features of the data well, identifying the key trends and providing specific figures for the years mentioned. You successfully highlighted the shift from renting to owning, which is the most significant trend in the chart. However, the response could be improved by providing a clearer overview or summary paragraph at the beginning or end, rather than just listing data points. To reach a higher band, ensure you synthesize the information more effectively by grouping trends rather than describing each year chronologically, which can feel like a list of data points.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The response is logically organized, with paragraphs used to separate different time periods. You use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'At the end', though these are somewhat repetitive. The progression of ideas is clear, but the transition between sentences could be smoother. For example, 'Years passed and came 1971' is a bit informal and clunky. Using a wider variety of linking phrases to show contrast (e.g., 'In contrast', 'Conversely') would help improve the flow and demonstrate a more sophisticated control of cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You have an adequate range of vocabulary to describe the data, such as 'proportion', 'residential units', and 'accommodation'. However, there are some inaccuracies in collocation and word choice, such as 'those were given housing for lease' and 'owning the housing by the families'. These phrases sound slightly unnatural. To improve, focus on using more precise academic collocations related to statistics and housing trends. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the meaning, but it lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'there was the highest percentage of households who rented the housing approximately 78%' (missing preposition/awkward structure) and 'when we looked at the year 1981' (unnecessary personal pronoun). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but some sentences are slightly fragmented or awkward. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and more accurate preposition usage will help improve your accuracy.
