The chart below shows the percentage of households in owned and rented accommodation in England and Wales between 1918 and 2011.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The given proportional bar graph represents the data of households owning and renting accommodation in England and Wales. It is evident that the percentage given is for the time period of 1918 to 2011 respectively.

To commence with, it is noticeable that, in 1918 there were approximately 20.1percent of owner occupied households however, rented accommodation accelerated to nearly 70%. Afterwards, Owned household in the period of 1939 inclined to 30.15% and correspondingly, rented households declined that to 68%. After that, self-owned accommodation and rental housing remained constant in 1953. Meanwhile, in the year 1961, home-owning families percentage was little bit more that 40% and leased accommodation households showed less than previous year lumpsum percentage. Post hoc, in 1971 both households accommodation remained unchanged, which was 50%. Subsequently, in1931owner-occupied accommodation suddenly rocketed to 60% and another one decreased to 40%. Consequently, in the given graph the period of 1991 represented little bit less ratio, that was 70% and rental properties slip back to 30.1%. Eventually, in 2001 owned shelters were peaked and touched 70%. Whereas, rental accommodation dropped nearly 30%. Lastly, in the period of 2011 again the owner- occupied residences fell at 60.2% moreover, rental housing slided up little that was nearly 30.55%.

Over all, it is apparent that rental accommodation was highest in 1918 furthermore, self-owned accommodation peaked in 2001.
