Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully identified the main trends and provided relevant data points to support your summary. You correctly highlighted the inverse relationship between owned and rented accommodation and noted the crossover point in 1971. However, the report could be improved by providing a more precise overview of the entire period. For instance, you mention a 'slightest reverse' in the final years, but you could have more clearly contrasted the peak of home ownership in 2001 with the final figures in 2011. Overall, you covered the requirements well, though the analysis of the final decade could be more detailed to fully capture the data provided.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The response is logically organized into clear paragraphs, moving from an overview to specific details. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Turning to the details' and 'In the next decade', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are a bit mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the phrase 'climbed up for meanwhile' is grammatically awkward and disrupts the cohesion. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'At that time') is always clear will help elevate your score in this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'accommodation', and 'trend'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, 'self owned' is better expressed as 'owner-occupied', and 'slightest reverse' is not the most natural way to describe a trend change. Additionally, there are minor errors such as 'number of residents' when referring to percentages. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise academic collocations and ensuring that your word choices are contextually appropriate for a data summary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. Examples include 'rented houses is steadily decreased' (should be 'has steadily decreased'), 'number of residents... is equal' (should be 'was equal'), and 'slight decrease in owned house' (should be 'owned houses'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall fluency. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
