Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response provides a general overview of the trends, but it fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which negatively impacts the task achievement score. While the main features are identified, the description of the data is somewhat imprecise. For instance, the statement 'In this year people start more than having their own' is unclear and fails to accurately interpret the final data point. The response covers the period from 1918 to 2011, but the lack of sufficient detail and the failure to reach the minimum length prevents it from reaching a higher band. To improve, ensure all data points are clearly described and the word count requirement is met.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally awkward, such as 'Nevertheless, in same year the renting of accommodation hit lowest.' The referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly in the final sentence where the comparison between owning and renting is confusingly phrased. While there is a logical flow from the introduction to the body paragraphs, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the slightly disjointed nature of the sentences limit the coherence. Improving the variety of transition signals would enhance the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'ratio of people who owned and rented house for living' and 'hight among all these years' (instead of 'highest'). The term 'shelter' is also used inappropriately in this context. While the meaning is generally clear, the limited range of vocabulary and the recurring errors in word choice prevent a higher score. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise terms for describing trends and data would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with verb tense consistency ('renting house in early years was more popular and its number gradually decrease') and article usage ('in early 19's'). Some sentences are poorly constructed, such as 'In this year people start more than having their own,' which impedes clarity. While the errors do not completely prevent communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage will help improve your grammatical accuracy.
