Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully identified the main trends and provided a clear overview of the data. You highlighted the inverse relationship between owned and rented accommodation over the period. However, the response lacks precision in reporting figures; for instance, stating 'more than 70%' is acceptable, but 'remains half approx. 33%' is confusingly phrased. Additionally, the data for 2011 is slightly inaccurate based on the typical interpretation of such charts, and the 'decline up to 6%' is mathematically unclear. To reach a higher band, ensure that data points are cited with greater precision and that the comparison between the two categories is more explicitly linked to the specific years provided in the graph.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a summary. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Focusing on', and 'Overall', which help guide the reader. However, the flow within sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the transition between ideas could be smoother. For example, the phrase 'as move towards 2001' is grammatically awkward and disrupts the logical progression. The use of referencing is generally clear, but the connection between the final summary and the body paragraphs could be more tightly integrated to improve the overall cohesion of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'accommodation', 'continuous decline', and 'significant increase'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'more no of people' (should be 'a higher number of people') and 'interest of individuals has been fully changed' (which is not the most precise way to describe housing trends). The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the main points, but it lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher bands. Focusing on more academic collocations and avoiding informal phrasing will help improve your score in this area.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Examples include 'individuals taken house on rent' (missing auxiliary verb), 'it shows full opposite trend' (missing article), and 'decline up to 6% and became 63%' (missing subject). While the meaning is generally clear, these errors are persistent. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, the correct use of articles, and ensuring that your complex sentences are constructed with accurate verb forms. Increasing your control over basic sentence structure will lead to more error-free sentences.
