Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement score. While you have identified the main trends, the summary is incomplete; the final sentence is cut off mid-thought, leaving the analysis unfinished. You have selected some key data points, such as the 1971 crossover point, but the lack of a complete overview and the truncated conclusion prevent a full development of the task. To improve, ensure you complete your sentences and provide a more thorough description of the data trends across the entire period provided in the chart.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow is hindered by the incomplete final sentence. You use some cohesive devices like 'Regarding' and 'Meanwhile,' which help structure the response, but the progression of ideas is disrupted by the abrupt ending. The referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'the both percentage,' which is grammatically awkward and makes the relationship between the data points difficult to follow. To improve, focus on using clearer transition signals and ensure that each paragraph concludes logically before moving to the next point.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision required for higher bands. You rely on repetitive phrasing, such as 'percentage' and 'accommodation,' and some word choices are unnatural, such as 'increasingly rose' and 'the both percentage.' There is an attempt to use descriptive language, but it is often inaccurate. To improve, try to vary your vocabulary by using synonyms and more precise collocations related to data description, such as 'proportion,' 'fluctuated,' or 'experienced a downward trend.'
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'households in rented accommodation was' (subject-verb agreement), 'the both percentage stood steadily on the same percentage' (redundant and awkward phrasing), and 'there was increasingly rose of owned accommodations' (incorrect word form). Punctuation is generally functional, but the incomplete final sentence is a major issue. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensure that your sentence structures are grammatically sound before moving on to more complex forms.
