Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

The response covers all parts of the task and provides a clear overview of the trends. You successfully identified the main features, such as the crossover point in 1971 and the general inverse relationship between the two categories. The data is accurately reported, and comparisons are made throughout the text. To reach a higher band, ensure that the overview is more distinct and that you avoid minor inaccuracies in data reporting, such as the slight confusion in the final paragraph regarding the rental figures in 2011.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, with a clear introduction, overview, and two body paragraphs. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In 1918', 'This figure', and 'However', which help guide the reader through the data. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or repetitive, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the phrase 'after that it was decreased' which lacks a smooth flow. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information clearly, using terms like 'proportion', 'considerably', and 'peaking'. However, there are some word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'continued to owned accommodation' and 'it is slightly decreased'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on using more accurate verb forms and collocations related to data description.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb tenses and passive/active voice consistency (e.g., 'households that owned are increased', 'households are rented', 'it fall to 32%'). These errors are noticeable and occur throughout the text. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensuring that tense usage remains consistent when describing historical data.
