Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, reaching only 84 words. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed. While you attempt to identify some trends, such as the crossover point in 1971, the description is fragmented and lacks the necessary detail to provide a comprehensive summary of the data. Key features, such as the initial 1918 figures or the specific percentages for the beginning and end of the period, are missing or inaccurately described. To improve, you must ensure you cover all parts of the prompt and provide a clear overview of the main trends supported by accurate data points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The response lacks a clear structure. There is no paragraphing, and the progression of ideas is difficult to follow due to the lack of cohesive devices. Phrases like 'whatever time is changing' and 'whatever the percentage' are used incorrectly, which disrupts the flow of information. The sentences are not logically linked, making it hard for the reader to understand the relationship between the data points mentioned. To improve, you should organize your response into clear paragraphs (introduction, overview, and body paragraphs) and use transition words like 'however,' 'in contrast,' or 'subsequently' to connect your ideas logically.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very limited and often inaccurate, which significantly impedes communication. You frequently use incorrect word forms, such as 'rant' instead of 'rented' and 'has or house' instead of 'home ownership'. The repetition of basic words and the misuse of terminology make the response difficult to interpret. To reach a higher band, you need to expand your range of vocabulary to include topic-specific terms like 'proportion,' 'fluctuation,' 'accommodation,' and 'trend,' and ensure you use them in the correct context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often distort the meaning. Examples include 'alot of people are lived in rant a house' (incorrect verb tense and word choice) and 'the person who has a house percentage is more' (awkward sentence structure). There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and basic subject-verb agreement is often ignored. Punctuation is also inconsistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct verb tenses, and practicing the use of complex sentences to describe trends and comparisons accurately.
