Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the task achievement. Furthermore, the response is incomplete, ending abruptly mid-sentence in the final paragraph. While the introduction and overview attempt to identify trends, the body paragraphs are underdeveloped and fail to provide a comprehensive summary of the data. The analysis of the trends is inaccurate; for instance, the student claims rented accommodation was the 'highest amount' throughout the period, which contradicts the data showing a clear crossover. Due to the incomplete nature of the response and the failure to reach the minimum length, the task is only partially addressed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is hindered by the incomplete nature of the text. Cohesive devices are used in a mechanical and repetitive way, such as the frequent use of 'while' and 'whereas'. Referencing is often unclear, and the lack of a conclusion or a completed final paragraph disrupts the logical flow of the response. The transition between the overview and the body paragraphs is weak, and the overall structure feels disjointed due to the abrupt ending.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. The student relies heavily on basic phrasing such as 'highest amount', 'low proportion', and 'private house owned people'. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'private house was stand' and 'rented house people'. The lack of variety in vocabulary prevents the student from describing the trends with precision. To improve, the student needs to incorporate more academic collocations related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'a significant decline'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('The Private house was stand'), incorrect word order, and awkward phrasing ('rented accommodation was presented with the highest amount'). The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with some unsuccessful attempts at complex structures. Punctuation is generally functional, but the overall control of grammar is weak, with errors occurring in almost every sentence.
