Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, reaching only 81 words. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed. While you have attempted to identify the main trends, the lack of detail and the failure to include specific data points from the chart significantly limit the development of the response. To improve, you must provide a more comprehensive overview, include specific figures to support your descriptions, and ensure you cover all parts of the task by comparing the two categories throughout the period provided. The current length is insufficient to demonstrate the ability to report on key features effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is organized into an introduction and an overview, which provides a basic structure. However, the progression of ideas is limited due to the brevity of the text. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Overall' and 'But', but they are somewhat mechanical. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'there is some fluctuation in it also', where the antecedent is not explicitly linked. To achieve a higher band, you should aim to group information more logically and use a wider range of linking words to connect sentences and ideas more fluidly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive. You rely on simple terms like 'increased' and 'declined' without much variation. There are also errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'the given map illustrate' (it is a chart, not a map) and 'in the both countries'. The range is limited, which prevents you from describing the trends with precision. To improve, try to incorporate more varied vocabulary related to data trends, such as 'soared', 'plummeted', 'fluctuated', or 'remained stable', and ensure you use the correct terminology for the visual aid provided.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains several grammatical errors that affect clarity. For example, 'The given map illustrate' shows a subject-verb agreement error, and 'there is a quite opposite trend is showed' is syntactically incorrect. The sentence structures are mostly simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct tense usage, and the passive voice, which is essential for describing data. You should also practice combining simple sentences into more complex structures to demonstrate a wider grammatical range.
