Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully identified the main trends and provided a clear overview of the data. You covered all parts of the task by comparing the two categories throughout the period. The key features, such as the crossover point and the general inverse relationship between renting and owning, are well-highlighted. To reach a higher band, ensure that you provide more precise data points where possible, as some figures are described in general terms. Overall, the response is well-structured and directly addresses the prompt requirements, providing a solid summary of the provided chart.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on the two categories. The progression of ideas is smooth, and you have used cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'However', 'As for', and 'then' effectively to link sentences. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two main trends. To improve, you could vary your cohesive devices further to avoid repetitive structures, but the current flow is clear and easy to follow throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have used a sufficient range of vocabulary to describe the trends, such as 'reversed', 'declined continuously', 'surpassed', and 'proportion'. The language is generally precise and appropriate for an academic report. There are minor issues, such as the typo 'accomodation' and the slightly awkward phrasing 'As for the of people', but these do not impede communication. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations or less common synonyms to describe the fluctuations in the data.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a good mix of simple and complex sentence structures. Most of your sentences are clear and error-free, which allows for easy reading. There are a few minor grammatical slips, such as the missing noun in 'As for the of people' and some punctuation issues (e.g., spacing around commas). However, these errors are infrequent and do not cause confusion. Your control over tense and structure is generally strong, providing a solid foundation for an academic response.
