Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the ability to fully address the task. While you have attempted to identify some trends, the analysis is incomplete and lacks a clear overview of the data. Several key periods are ignored, and the description of the data is inaccurate (e.g., stating the proportion of owned residence was 75% in 1918, which contradicts the provided chart). The response is too brief to adequately report the main features or make meaningful comparisons, resulting in a failure to cover all parts of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a logical structure. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the progression of ideas is disjointed and confusing. Cohesive devices are used ineffectively; for instance, 'Beside this' is used incorrectly to introduce a new point, and the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs is abrupt. The lack of sufficient content makes it difficult to follow the development of the argument, and the referencing of data points is unclear, which hinders the overall flow of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and contains several spelling errors, such as 'acconted', 'accomodation', 'Englamd', and 'exactlt'. You rely on basic terminology and struggle to use precise language to describe trends. There is no attempt to use less common lexical items or sophisticated collocations. The repetition of words like 'proportion' and 'residence' further limits the range. To improve, you should focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary for describing charts, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', or 'remained stable', and ensure accurate spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The bar charts illustrates'), incorrect verb tenses, and awkward sentence construction (e.g., 'rented residence was acconted for'). The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with errors in basic punctuation and word order. You need to focus on mastering basic sentence structures and ensuring that your verbs and nouns agree before attempting more complex grammatical forms.
