Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have successfully identified the main trends and provided a clear overview of the data. You covered the key periods (1918, 1971, 2011) and made relevant comparisons between the two categories. The data is accurately reported, and the overall summary effectively highlights the shift from rented to owned accommodation. To reach a higher band, ensure you avoid minor inaccuracies in data interpretation; for instance, stating 'nearly a three quater' is slightly imprecise compared to the chart data. Overall, the response is well-structured and addresses all requirements of the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a concluding summary. You use cohesive devices such as 'conversely', 'meanwhile', and 'to begin' to guide the reader through the data. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the paragraphing could be improved by grouping the data more thematically rather than chronologically. The referencing is generally clear, though the flow between sentences could be smoother to achieve a more natural progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'significant proportion', 'substantial', and 'plunged'. There are some minor errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'preffered' (preferred) and 'three quater' (three-quarters). Additionally, using 'demand' to describe housing tenure is slightly inaccurate; 'proportion' or 'percentage' would be more precise in this context. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the sophistication and precision required for higher band scores.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical slips, such as 'which were 50%' (referring to a singular trend or percentage) and 'nearly a three quater people'. Punctuation is generally functional, though there are some spacing issues before commas. The grammar is sufficient for the task, but more consistent control over subject-verb agreement and article usage would elevate the score. The majority of your sentences are understandable, and errors do not impede communication.
