Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers the main features, such as the trends in owned and rented accommodation. However, the analysis is hampered by significant factual inaccuracies. For instance, you mention the year 1917, which is not present in the data, and you state that in 1918, both categories were at 50%, which contradicts the chart. While you identify the highest and lowest points, the lack of precision in reporting the data points and the inclusion of non-existent years prevent a higher score. To improve, ensure you carefully read the axes and data points before drafting your summary.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical flow is weak. The second paragraph is a disjointed collection of observations rather than a cohesive overview. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical, such as the repetitive use of 'The year...'. Transitions between ideas are abrupt, making the progression of the argument difficult to follow. To improve, use linking words like 'consequently', 'in contrast', or 'subsequently' to connect your sentences and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive. You rely heavily on phrases like 'households in owned accommodation' and 'percentage'. There are also issues with word choice, such as 'The colour grey was illustrated the reports', which is grammatically awkward and imprecise. You should aim to use a wider range of synonyms and more sophisticated reporting verbs to describe the trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'witnessed a decline', or 'experienced a surge'. Expanding your vocabulary will help you convey information more precisely and professionally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('graph illustrate', 'colour grey was illustrated') and awkward sentence structures ('Households in owned accommodation was highest'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after periods and unnecessary capitalization. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often faulty. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement will significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
