Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
You have successfully identified the main trends and provided key data points, such as the crossover point in 1971. However, the response lacks a clear overview paragraph, which is essential for a Band 6 or higher. While you mention the trends, the data reporting is occasionally inaccurate or confusing, such as stating 'in 2001 the number... has been declined with 32%'. This phrasing is ambiguous and does not clearly state the percentage at that time. To improve, ensure you provide a concise summary of the overall trends in the introduction or as a separate paragraph, and double-check your data interpretation to ensure clarity for the reader.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally misused. For example, 'On other hand' is missing an article, and the transition between sentences is sometimes abrupt. The logical progression is hindered by the way data is presented; for instance, jumping between years without a clear chronological or thematic flow makes the report feel disjointed. Improving the use of linking words (e.g., 'subsequently', 'in contrast', 'meanwhile') and ensuring each paragraph has a clear focus would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'increased', 'decreased', and 'steady'. However, there are several issues with word choice and collocation. For example, 'in year of 1918' should be 'in 1918', and 'self owned' is not the standard term for this context. Additionally, there are spelling errors like 'accomodation' (should be 'accommodation'). To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise terminology and ensuring correct spelling. You should also aim to vary your vocabulary to avoid repeating the same phrases throughout the report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include incorrect preposition usage (e.g., 'declined with 32%', 'rose with the around 64%') and tense inconsistencies (e.g., 'has been declined'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and periods. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures and subject-verb agreement. Ensure that you proofread your work to correct minor errors in articles and prepositions, which will help make your writing more accurate and professional.
