Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under the 150-word minimum, which severely limits the ability to fully address the task. While you identified the main trends and the point of intersection in 1971, the description is incomplete. You failed to provide data for the end of the period (2011) and did not include a sufficient overview of the data points. Because the response is unfinished and lacks the necessary detail to provide a comprehensive summary, it falls into the lower band range. To improve, ensure you cover the entire timeframe and include specific data points for the beginning, middle, and end of the period.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The text is organized into a brief introduction and an overview, but the lack of a complete body paragraph structure makes the progression of ideas feel disjointed. There is an attempt to use cohesive devices like 'Overall' and 'Additionally', but the flow is interrupted by the abrupt ending of the text. Paragraphing is insufficient due to the incomplete nature of the response. To improve, ensure you group related data into clear paragraphs and use a wider variety of linking words to connect your observations logically.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'equilibrium', and 'dominant share'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'rents accommodation' instead of 'rented accommodation' and 'least share' instead of 'smallest share'. The range is limited by the brevity of the response. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensure you use the correct word forms (e.g., nouns vs. adjectives) when describing trends.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains several grammatical errors that affect clarity. For example, 'Upward trend can be seen on Owned accommodation , its gradually rose to became' contains punctuation errors and incorrect verb forms ('to become'). There are also issues with sentence structure, such as the run-on sentence starting with 'whereas'. While there is an attempt at complex structures, the frequency of errors is high relative to the short length of the text. Focus on subject-verb agreement and proper punctuation to improve accuracy.
