Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main trends, such as the increase in owned accommodation and the decrease in rented properties. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. The description of the data is occasionally inaccurate, such as stating that the 1918 figures were 'nearly 20%' when they were clearly lower, and the explanation regarding 'children growing up' is speculative and irrelevant to a data-based report. To improve, focus strictly on the data provided without adding personal commentary or assumptions about social behavior. Ensure all key features, such as the crossover point in 1971, are described with greater precision.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or misused. For example, 'mean while their children's is growing up' is not a logical transition for a data report. The progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed, particularly in the final paragraph where the commentary on 'needs and responsibilities' lacks a clear link to the data. Using a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'in contrast', 'subsequently') would improve the flow and logical connection between sentences.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'increase' and 'decrease'. There are several instances of awkward word choice and incorrect collocations, such as 'the public enlarging their properties' and 'leisurely left the renting options'. These errors occasionally make the meaning slightly unclear. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more precise academic vocabulary related to trends, such as 'fluctuate', 'climb', 'decline', or 'plateau', and ensure that words are used in their correct context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that affect the clarity of the writing. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('the household... is increases'), incorrect verb tenses, and awkward sentence structures ('the percentage of both the households... were represents equal'). While the meaning is generally understandable, these persistent errors prevent the text from achieving a higher score. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that tense usage is consistent throughout the report.
