The chart given shows information in percentage of the households in owned and rented accommodation in England and Whales between a certain time period. The chart represents that in 1918 approximately 24% households were in owned accommodation, Whereas 76% were in rented accommodation. Moreover in next few years it is visible that the households in rented accommodation had a decline and in owned accommodation were rising with an increase of 8% in 1939. However the biggest changes are visible between 1953 and 2001 where the percentage of in owned accommodation went from 34% to 69% while lowering the in rent accommodation to a very less percentage of 31%. However after a huge increase between these years it is now noticeable that in 2011 the in owned accommodated households have began to fall again with very basic drop in percentage. Lastly the chart gives a visual representation about the changes occurred in Uk and Whales about household accommodation.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main trends, such as the initial percentages in 1918 and the significant shift between 1953 and 2001. However, the report lacks a clear overview or summary of the most striking trends, which is essential for a high band score in Task 1. The data selection is generally accurate, but the description of the 2011 data as a 'very basic drop' is vague. To improve, ensure you highlight the overall trend (the reversal of the two categories) in an introductory or concluding summary paragraph, rather than just listing data points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response is organized into a single paragraph, which hinders the logical flow of information. IELTS Academic Task 1 requires clear paragraphing to separate the introduction, overview, and body details. While some cohesive devices like 'Moreover', 'However', and 'Lastly' are used, they are sometimes used mechanically or inappropriately (e.g., starting two consecutive sentences with 'However'). The progression of ideas is somewhat repetitive, and the lack of distinct paragraphs makes the report feel like a list of facts rather than a structured analysis.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'in owned accommodation' and 'in rented accommodation' are used repeatedly, which impacts the fluency of the text. There are also errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'Whales' instead of 'Wales' and 'in rent accommodation' instead of 'rented accommodation'. To achieve a higher band, you should aim for a wider range of synonyms and more precise collocations, such as 'home ownership rates' or 'the proportion of rented properties'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains several grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'shows information in percentage of the households' (should be 'shows the percentage of households') and 'the in owned accommodated households have began to fall' (should be 'has begun to fall'). The sentence structures are relatively simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence variety. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of errors in basic grammar and tense usage prevents the response from reaching a higher band.
