Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the data, such as the starting points in 1918, the point of intersection in 1971, and the final figures in 2011. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. The description of the trends is repetitive, using phrases like 'day by day this trend becomes changing' and 'in this way it may increases', which lack precision. While the key data points are identified, the response lacks a clear overview or summary statement that highlights the overall shift from a rental-dominated market to an ownership-dominated one. The information is presented in a list-like fashion rather than a cohesive analytical report.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is written as a single block of text, which makes it difficult to follow. There is a lack of paragraphing, which is essential for organizing the introduction, overview, and body details. Cohesive devices are used in a very mechanical and repetitive way, such as the frequent use of 'and' to connect clauses. The progression of ideas is somewhat disjointed, particularly when transitioning between different time periods. To improve, you should group related information into distinct paragraphs and use a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'subsequently', 'in contrast', 'meanwhile') to guide the reader through the data.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You frequently use the same terms, such as 'household' and 'accommodation', throughout the text. There are also consistent spelling errors, such as 'accomodation' (should be 'accommodation') and 'accomadation'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe trends effectively; for instance, instead of saying 'the trend becomes increasing', you could use more precise verbs like 'rose', 'climbed', or 'experienced an upward trend'. The lack of variety in word choice restricts the ability to convey the information with the necessary academic tone.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb tenses and subject-verb agreement, such as 'the household in owned accomodation were' (should be 'was') and 'it may increases' (should be 'it increased'). Punctuation is also problematic, with several instances of missing spaces after periods. The use of complex sentences is attempted but often results in errors that can cause some confusion for the reader. To reach a higher band, you need to focus on consistent tense usage and improve the accuracy of basic sentence construction.
