Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you have identified some key features, the summary is incomplete as it stops abruptly before the end of the period (2011). Furthermore, there are factual inaccuracies in your reporting; for example, you state that in 1939 rentals 'got decreased to 79%', which is mathematically inconsistent with the 32% ownership figure provided. To improve, ensure you cover the entire timeframe provided in the prompt and double-check your data interpretation. The lack of a clear overview or summary of the main trends also limits the score, as you have focused primarily on listing individual data points rather than synthesizing the information.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow is hindered by the incomplete nature of the final paragraph. You use some basic cohesive devices like 'To begin with' and 'Moving further', but the progression of ideas is mechanical. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the final sentence which mentions '32% and 68% in year 1981', which contradicts your earlier statement about 1981. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that your data points are linked logically to the overall trend rather than just listed. Improving the transition between sentences will help the reader follow your analysis more effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The range of vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You rely heavily on basic terms like 'amount', 'percentage', and 'houses'. There are also spelling errors such as 'repersantion' and 'remaind'. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more precise vocabulary related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'figure', 'fluctuated', or 'witnessed a significant rise'. Avoid using informal phrasing like 'got decreased'. Expanding your vocabulary to include more academic collocations will help you convey information with greater precision and sophistication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains several grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. For instance, 'there were 23% of owned houses' is awkward; it would be better to say 'owned houses accounted for 23%'. You also have issues with preposition usage, such as 'increased at 32%' instead of 'increased to 32%'. While you attempt some complex sentence structures, they are often marred by errors in tense or word order. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and subject-verb agreement. Proofreading for common errors like missing articles or incorrect prepositions will also help improve your accuracy.
