Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. Furthermore, the content is underdeveloped and lacks a clear overview of the main trends. The data reporting is inaccurate; for instance, the description of the rented accommodation trends is confusing and does not align with the provided chart. The response lacks a proper conclusion and fails to make meaningful comparisons between the two categories. To improve, you must ensure all data points are accurately interpreted, provide a clear summary of the overall trends in an introduction or overview paragraph, and ensure the response meets the minimum length requirement to allow for full development of ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks logical organization. The paragraphing is insufficient, with the second paragraph attempting to cover too much information in a disjointed manner. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes misused, such as the abrupt transition 'To wrap up' followed by no content. Referencing is often unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of the data. To improve, use clear topic sentences for each paragraph and employ a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'in contrast', 'subsequently', 'meanwhile') to connect ideas more fluidly and logically.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choices, such as 'ratio of household accommodation' and 'escalated of 11%'. The spelling errors, such as 'england' (should be capitalized) and 'nad', further detract from the quality of the writing. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate precision in describing trends. You should focus on learning specific collocations for describing data, such as 'a significant increase', 'a steady decline', or 'remained stable', and ensure you use these terms accurately in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement, incorrect preposition usage, and punctuation errors. Many sentences are fragmented or lack proper structure, such as 'The percentage was 50,60and 70 in 1961,1971 and in 1981, respectively.' The range of grammatical structures is very limited, relying mostly on simple sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including correct capitalization and punctuation. Additionally, practice using a mix of simple and complex sentences to improve the flow and grammatical variety of your writing.
