Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response successfully identifies the main trends and makes relevant comparisons between the two categories. You have highlighted the key turning points, such as the peak in owned accommodation in 2001 and the inverse relationship between the two categories over time. However, the overview could be more precise; for instance, stating that the highest percentage of owned households was in 2001 is accurate, but the reference to 1918 for rented accommodation is also correct. The data is generally well-selected, though some specific figures could be integrated more smoothly to support the comparison. Overall, you have addressed all parts of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, with an introduction, a body paragraph for owned accommodation, and a body paragraph for rented accommodation. You use cohesive devices such as 'Meanwhile', 'To begin with', and 'On the other hand' to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the referencing could be improved to avoid repetition. For example, the phrase 'the percentage about owned houses' is a bit clunky. The progression of ideas is generally clear, and the paragraphing is appropriate for this type of task.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'drastically', 'significantly', and 'constant'. There are some minor spelling errors, such as 'accomodation' (should be 'accommodation'), and some word choice issues, such as 'ranked itself at 33%'. While you attempt to use less common vocabulary, there are occasional inaccuracies in collocation. However, these errors do not impede communication, and the range is sufficient to convey the necessary information clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'With the passage of time, the percentage of owned accommodation has been increased'. There are some grammatical errors, particularly with verb tenses and passive voice usage (e.g., 'has been increased' should be 'has increased'). Additionally, there are some punctuation errors, such as missing spaces after commas (e.g., 'Meanwhile ,'). Despite these errors, the meaning remains clear throughout the response, and the errors do not significantly impede the reader's understanding.
