Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main trends and provides relevant data points to support the description. You successfully identified the starting point, the crossover in 1971, and the final figures in 2011. However, the analysis is somewhat mechanical, and the overview could be more clearly integrated. While you mention the trends, the description of the 1981 period is slightly confusing, as you state the owned accommodation 'surplus' the index, which is a misuse of terminology. To reach a higher band, ensure that comparisons are more precise and that the overview highlights the most significant shifts rather than just listing chronological changes.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of the data. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat repetitive and occasionally mechanical (e.g., 'And after the 1981', 'In 1981'). The transition between sentences could be smoother to improve the flow of information. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the internal cohesion within paragraphs lacks variety, relying heavily on simple conjunctions. To improve, try using a wider range of linking words and phrases to connect ideas more naturally and show the relationship between the data points more effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are several instances of awkward word choice and incorrect collocations. For example, 'surplus' is used as a verb where 'surpassed' or 'exceeded' would be correct. Additionally, phrases like 'both of the index came to a same point' are unnatural. The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, relying on basic terms like 'number of people' and 'increasing'. To achieve a higher score, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary, such as 'proportion', 'fluctuation', or 'trend', and ensure that words are used in their correct grammatical form.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('The given chart illustrate', 'number of household owned started') and incorrect verb forms ('where renting', 'renting an accommodation got decreased'). While the meaning is generally clear, these errors are persistent and distract from the quality of the writing. The sentence structures are relatively simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often contain errors. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions. Increasing the variety of sentence structures while maintaining accuracy will also help raise your score.
